What is Cambridge Crater?
This can't be a nuke sight as the buildings surrounding it are still standing. And I thought only one nuke hit Boston? Did the devs just overlook it in terms of how much destruction should actualy be there?

I wonder if you can find the place where the nuke hit Boston.

You sure can. Kind of hard to miss. You can even see it on your pipboy.

nuke at the start of the game was what created the glowing sea. the vault is northwest and the blast when you look at it comes from the south west, where the sea is.

I should probably add I thought about it later and it could be a sink hole.

by the looks of it there's no fire or burning marks on the buildings, the logical explination would be its indeed a sinkhole.
however, its possible its a developer oversight, maybe cut content about some failed nuclear bomb or something,

Are you talking about what is left of the Institute after you blow it up during the "Nuclear Option" ending or do you refer to something else I might of missed?

Nope. If you watch that clip you see that, standing on the vault elevator you are facing two high tension tower lines behind which the blast goes off. That's on a line going *southeast* of the vault while the Glowing Sea is to the *southwest* of the vault.

I think that might be a dev oversight. I noticed the same thing but when you ask about the glowing sea they bring up the nuke that hit Boston.

It's that great big black spot in the Glowing Sea, way southwest of Vault 111

Dev oversight - One nuke hit Boston.

Did you even read the rest of the thread? I know where the nuke dropped, but there are several craters, not just the Cambridge Crater, around the map. Now assumed to be sinkholes.

Edited: It was the smaller nuclear cruise missles fired from the chinese sub you find off the cost. There more direct impact then lasting damage, you gain acess to his non nuclear reserve ones after the quest.

Only 1 "Mega Nuke" hit boston, referring to a true ICBM or bomb like the other wastelands

Do we know it's just one nuke? There could have been multiple warheads.

If you listened to the holo-tape you got from the rooftop of the Museum of Freedom, on the table next to the T-45 Power armor, titled "Log - SSG Michael Daly", the character Staff-sergeant Michael Daly (as the tape is titled) explained that the vertibird went down after getting hit by EMP caused by multiple nuclear detonation. Given the vertibird felt in Concord it stands to reason several nuke were dropped within the Massachusetts Commonwealth area.

There's nukes, and then there's nukes. Hell we know of at least three different sizes of nuclear weaponry.

I think the Cambridge Crater is the one you see when entering the vault. I've found that to be the only site that comes close to lining up, even if everything has changed due to the amount of devastation unleashed.
