Dunwich borers, side quest or just mini-entertainment?

Was told to go clear some raiders from this place, amongest arrival there was infact raiders, you can leave after killing them, but if you continue deeper into the mineshaft, it gets crazy. you start suffering hallucinations, paranoia, hysteria. your character actually begins to laugh like a madmen and u kill an entire family of child ghouls. at the end of the cave there is a hole, with water, at first i thought it wasent that deep so i stepped on it with my power armor, bad move. you fall directly to the bottom (if your in power armor you cannot get out without dropping the armor or using TCL cheat) at the bottom of the pit there is a speical melee weapon and a few mini nukes.


Great little side story and alot of cool things in the cave, my first discovery of something with actual RP! thanks.

Probably just a random flavour location. There's lots of them in Fallout that isnt involved in any actual quests. :P

It's a throwback to the Dunwich building in 3, that place still gives me the creeps. I was pretty hype when I found the ghoul segment though.
