"Here Kitty, Kitty"(Spoiler?)
I don't think it really counts as a spoiler, but just in case. It's the quest you get in Vault 81 to go recover the girl's cat. It just SITS THERE and doesn't react at all when I approach it or interact with it. Which I suppose is pretty appropriate catlike behavior, since they do like to do baffling things, I can't help but think that the big "SEND HOME"-prompt suggests something more should be happening.

Any console commands I can use to kick this thing back into functionality?

Yeah, you should just be able to walk up to the cat and tap E to send it home.

I found it pretty stupid not being able to stop tha cat from leaving , as i pretty much saw it run across the hallway and i could have stopped the cat from leaving pretty easly.

I actually found out what the bug was(at least for me), apparently having bound my interact key to a mouse button was what messed it up. It turned out that when I defaulted back to the original interact key(I think enter?) I was able to talk to Ashes just fine and he ran off home, E would probably also have worked.

Seems to be an issue with some keybinds being weirdly hardcoded.

I'll rebind my key... it's on the mouse as well.

Hello. I have a similar problem and rebinding keys is not helping. I googled it with not much luck either.

So, if anyone has any ideas, the help is appreciated.
Hey, I had this same issue on PC and did not have any keys remapped.

The solution that I found was to use the console commands to reset the quest and then set the active state back to the point in the questline where you need to talk to Ashes:
"resetquest 00033520" then "setstage 00033520 100" (no quotes in either).

As soon as I did that, I was able to interact with Ashes and send him on his merry way back to the Vault.

Hope this helps.
