Minutemen?
Who are the minutemen? I don't remember them from Fallout 3 or NV, but the way they are introduced feels like we are expected to know who they are. Where they in the old games or are they completely new for F4?

The Minutemen first stood out when they successfully defended Diamond City from a super mutant attack in 2180. So they are new i guess. Probably a group who formed when you were frozen ;p

Pretty sure they're unique to the Commonwealth. Didn't play 1 or 2 and didn't hear anything about them in 3 and NV.

new i believe from my gametime thought they were mostly wiped out with only quincey i think his name is, still alive. Their real world counterparts were basically a militia in the revolutionary war that focused on rapid response hence the name minute men

They were in Fallout (1) obviously.

It's merely a reference to the Minutemen from those old American times, I think they were some kind of authority militia, stopping highwaymen and stuff. For the people, by the people. I'm going to assume they were formed in Boston maybe to also help combat the British, I dunno. Not that good with history. But basically it's a reference to...real life history, made manifest I guess.

Same as the Railroad. They were mentioned in Fallout 3, but they're largely just a reference to the Railway Movement (or whatever it was called) to do with helping escaped black slaves flee to a better life...it matches their in game agenda of trying to help escape synths, which are basically in the same boat as the slaves were.

So uh, yeah Minutemen are new. I guess they're the resident "Regulators" from Fallout 3, if you remember those.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ laser muskets. Rule of cool...but so stupid anyway :P

Well, technically we *are* supposed to know who they are, as they've been protecting the Commonwealth for a long time. Anyone born and raised around the Commonwealth would have heard of them. However, since our character has been frozen for 200 years, we've missed out on a lot of current common knowledge.
