X-01 EMP Shielding vs Prism Shielding
Recently got hold of the X-01 power armor and I noticed the X-01 EMP Shielding mod provides 10 less res vs energy weapons than the standard Prism Shielding. I don't know about you, but I'd think it would be the other way around....

Edit: Actually, looking into it a bit further it does make sense, it may cost about twice as much in material except for the nuclear material, which you don't need for the X-01 EMP Shielding, you do need rank 2 in science for the Prism Shielding.

emp shielding protects aginst emp granades and the lot... where as the prism specializes in energy reflection... kinda in the name....

edit: trust me emp shielding is hella nice thing to have.. you think it will never happen to you but it happens... and it sucks. sacrifice a few points of energy protection for emp resistance... its worth it

Yeah emp shielding would be protection from shorting out while prism would be reflection. Makes sense it has more.

I have the almost unbreakable effect on my armor so i'm just gunna put the coolest looking mod on. Hot-rod flames!

the X01 EMP shielding differs wildly in how Prism or Witnerized acts.
Prism makes you take less Energy Damage in general from ALL Energy Sources aka Flames, Plasma, Electrical, Energy, Gas, and Cyro. It also reflects 30% of Energy Damage in a random direction but you still take the full hit.

EMP Shielding has a Natrual damage reduction of about 20ish% from Plasma (plasma weaponry and explosives), Electrical (Tesla Cannon, Tesla Arc, Pulsa), and Energy (Laser Rifles, Gattling Laser) but you take slight more damage from Flame, Gas, and Cryo. So Generally EMP Shielding is the better alternitive so you get a damage reduction.

Also While Pulse does not do alot of damage on its own. It does Sap Energy away from your Core in both Weapons and Armor if you are using a core IN Them. Without EMP shield its gernally 60% to 20% depending on your energy resistance. but EMP Shield Negates the Loss Alltogther.

The more you know but do any enemies use them alot?

like i know radiation is good against the children of atom with the gamma rays but not many other enemies use gamma / radiation aside from spittle and nuclear ghouls. But im talking like in terms of weapons from ranged attacked like more than 10 ft.

The Main enemies that use flame are Raiders (usually 1 every 10 raiders ABOVE lvl 40.) Forged. (1 every 10 below 30 and 1 every 5 above 30). Gas is a natrual environmental hazard with Gas and Poison properties. No enemy uses Cryo. Electrical such as Pulse weaponry are PULSE grenades used by Gunners (lvl 50+), The Brotherhood (lvl 20+), Diamond City (lvl 60+), and Enclave (some mods being them back but this referse to the 2 to 4 Enclave Remnants that can appear. Or the Vertibirds that appear when you destroy enough eyebots. Which from my games can be 5 to about 60 of them.) But most enemies use Pulse or Energy Weaponry. Which are Raiders (lvl 40+), Gunners, Brotherhood, Diamond City (lvl 50+), The Institute, and Super Mutants (lvl 35+). Also Mirelurk Kings do Psychic Damage with ther Physic Roar. like Lorenzo's Artifact Gun. Which cannot be resisted. Which are all Ranged that very between ranges. EMP Shielding is best for this reason as most of the damage types are usually ranged at over 10ft. The exception to flame since that can be only further then 10 ft via Molotov Cocktails. Also Pulse Gernades will not be used against you if you have X-01 EMP Shield on. But if you have prism expect at high levels to see alot of Pulse Gernades ti be thrown at you. As just 2 to 4 can completely drain your Core(s). Depending how far they are from you from minimum range to maximum. Also if you have the Tesla Cannon from Bethesda in that quest when it is used against you IT INSTANTLY DRAINS CORES When YOU are hit by it. Use EMP Shield to negate that effect.

Gee, theres a thought for a mod. Features that deplete the core. Don't think theres a core drain for some of those healing fields or whatever. Would be interesting if you could come up with 'power drain' effects. I got so many of those cores stashed in hangmans its a joke.

It's probably like that because ♥♥♥♥ all else you can't rechatge them.

On that note if the mod ever is made is there a fusion core extender script /mod or multiple cores into 1 suit mod that adds several so you don't constantly have to be entering and exiting the suits?

I recommend explosive shielding. The biggest problems I have in problem armor are missiles and mini nukes; this makes them... ok, not small problems, but less overwhelming problems. ... wow I typed "problem armor", how did I do that?... I assume you all know what I meant? XD

they're not as much a threat once you get used to using trees and obstacles / building as cover. Mini nukes especially suck in 4 (well all fallouts lol) where they actually pre-dedonate if they touch even the corner of their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ large hitbox.
