Fallout 4's package will include a DVD, not a blu-ray disc, and it won't contain the entire game. You'll still have to download most of the content through Steam
News comes from Bethesda's Pete Hines, who was taking questions from fans on Twitter about the upcoming post-apocalyptic game. He also advised those who want to buy the game physically on PC take care. Fallout 4's package will include a DVD, not a blu-ray disc, and it won't contain the entire game. You'll still have to download most of the content through Steam

Call me old school but having something physical is just special to me. I collect old computers, gaming systems, and all the stuff associated.

I adored the Collector's Edition of New Vegas, it's really cool as heck, comic book story, platinum chip, poker chips, cards with each character ;)

I'm very old school too, but giving the gamer a SINGLE DVD is just taking the P.....
You ask yourself, why bother? There is NO impact on your download reduction and for those that have ISP caps. GTAV had 6-7 DVDs and you still had to download over 5gb of data, but it was a case of 45mins to install or several hours or days for some people with no physical copy.

The days of a FULL boxed copy inc bound manual and extra content are more needed today than ever. Due to poor ISP speeds around the world and the fact you buy the game but still have to buy the internet to play it, now that's soooo wrong on all accounts. If you are old school..

They could just pust more DVDs like in other games

I think that there are games already that have only a steam installer of the game on the disc.

So, what happens if Joe Schmo living in Boonieville does not have internet access other than a stupid turbo stick with like 100kb download and wants to play Fallout 4, he is $hit outta luck? Who give a crap about those people, right? 7uckers.........

We shouldn't be surprised, it's not like people sit around boardroom tables and behind closed doors thinking of ways not to make money.......

Just crazy. You buy a physical copy (that contains a placebo copy of the game, lol). Wait for it to be delivered, then insert it and have to put in a code on steam- that you could have bought online and started the download , possibly, 24hrs or more earlier?!?!?!

This is the future, convince yourself. I can't

Yeah it definitely sucks. Not only do you have to be online to verify you own the game, more and more you have to download most of even all of the games anyway.

That's why I moved most of my gaming spending to DRM free, where I can install them on all my computers and no requirement to ever go online at all. Sadly most AAA games aren't available but still thousands of both new and old games are available.

Once you own the game, you could always download the iso and then burn it to a bluray disk.

The thing is, those people are a very small percentage of their customer base.

thesda does not cater to the small percentage.

Steam also has a backup system, after you download the game you can use steam backup to back it up onto an external hardrive or DVD. The only downloads you will get after restoring it into your steam library will be any updates that have been released after you backed up the game.

Good call. That's even easier.

Ya it's a nice feature. I have 1TB external set aside just for Steam backups. Much better than the Origin mess.

Unless you have nearly 2TB of games and just wait until you see how long it takes to compress....................................ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I gave up after a couple of games as it would have been simpler to download them again. Now i just clone my HD to a spare, if this one falls over i just stick the other in and voila! it just needs steam game updates, a LOT easier.

You would be VERY surprised at just how large a number it is for the amount of people stuck with slow internet or a data cap. In and out of the US.

My data cap here in Germany is 100GB per month. If i go over, I pay about 52 cents per 1GB. My monthly Internet bill is over $250 euro!!!!!
