Using DLCs for the first time
I have completed multiple runs of the main questline with different endings. Now I want to start with some DLCs (Automatron and Nuka world).
Given that I use mods via Vortex how do i make it so that these DLCs are installed only into a new vortex profile when I start a new run? I want a separate profile because I am using a different set of mods for this new run.

Will you be trying to use multiple characters at the same time? Vortex and any other system should be able to save your game profiles under different names. Just as long as you know which mods you need, and have the profile and downloads available, your mods should be fine either way.

Most mods *require* the DLC anyway. But once they're downloaded it shouldn't make any difference to the game, old or new install version is the only difference. pre-Next Gen/post.

ya I have like 4 characters rn with dedicated vortex profiles and enabled mods for each. I usually remove the save files of a run before starting a new run&character. (Documents\My Games\Fallout4\)
So how would I make it so that these 4 profiles/runs do not include the DLCs I download?

I don't know that there's a specific way using your mod organizer but you might have to actively turn them off in the main menu of the game instead? For each one, I guess, you'd want to tick them off or on. They would still be there on your drive, and still technically be available for them, because once you've downloaded them they're present to be used. if your account's flagged as owning them, that's that.

Are you on the current version of the game, the Next Generation Update? Because... if you have not already downloaded them at all, your files will all be broken anyway if they're very old profiles - the mods might or might not work with the new version.

I have the next-gen update and the profiles/run I intend to use are after that update, so are the mods.

Then you could just turn them off as ADDONS in the menu, I think. They will still be there, but not load up when you decide. That just means you'll have to remember I think - the profile SHOULD actually ... sort those in too? I don't use the same mod organizer but I know nmm/ce shows them in the load list. I would think that if you opened up each profile and checked the actual plugin order, you should be able to turn them off and save the profile? honestly I can't run the game without all the dlc for my needs lol so it's never even been an issue for me.

alright I will just go ahead and see after installation. Coz anyways dlcs do get added into Data folder as .exm files which can be identifies by Vortex.
