wait.. that was meant sarcastic...
edit:
i totally forgot to reply to Peons suggestions...
yes, i already use the usual workarounds.
manual upgrades
small custom settlements
in addition i even just stand near the workshop in the two mentioned Starlight and Nordhagen when ever i collect Caps, make Coffee and have a smoke.
still, sometimes i simply forget to change the upgrade options.
on the bright side.. i havent had a single triangle of death crash in ages because i don'T use the fancy city plans in RR Abernathy Sanctuary anymore... made my own that suit my Lore better.
SIm Settlements 1.
Sim Settlements 2 is different and not compatible.
Whatever the one that has the MOST that you'd get from using it, KEEP. Anything else should be completely removed from your hard drive to not corrupt the rest of the data when you start fresh. You cannot rescue a current run if you've been swapping mods in and out at this point. It's going to be broken any way you look at it.
So go through the mods on nexus and READ THEM thoroughly, decide which features you want the most, and only use that specific mod.
Is Sim Settlements all available via bethesda? I wouldn't trust bethesda to distribute a mod this big and this overarching.
If you're using ANY bethesda mods, particularly ANY that affect the start of the game, or there's at least one big 'weapons' one (I cannot remember the name, I don't use any of these garbage fire mods) REMOVE them. They break. They also do not work well with other mods.
And once more:
The sim settlement mods ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH EACH OTHER.
Only EVER install ONE of them. So if you're getting them somehow from bethesda's distribution system, remove it and go to the nexus and install F4SE or Vortex to get them downloaded and launched correctly.
