How the hell do you switch weapons in this game?

I got 2 guns from the bunker you're supposed to go in at the beginning of the game but I cannot equip them. I have tried 1,2,3,4,5 and the mouse scroll wheel but it doesn't work.

You open your pipboy, navigate to your weapons, pressing 'Q' will let you favorite them and assign them to any of the number keys. Hope this helps.

Weapons in vault 111 should automatically be in hotkeys 3 and 4, then you'll be able to map them to any number you want once you get the pipboy

I put my primary weapon in 1 backup in 2 Radaway in 9 and stimpaks in 0. Don't really use the other slots tbh.

I have pistol, shotgun, long range rifle assigned. Each uses different ammo so depending on what ammo I find is what weapon I use.

i just flip my pipboy open every time i wanna change weapons and select one from in there. XD
