Did you downgrade your Steam installed Fallout 4? Not really recommended, since it's a messy process that if you didn't anticipate doing well before the update changed everything, it will have a laundry list of issues. Either way, this isn't the folon forum, or their discord.
Mixing it with HD tetxtures made it even worser.
@Genu: Oh, are the textures just low resolution?
Thanks again everyone.
The graphic quality isnt - lets say impressive - so i tried to improve it with HD replacers. the result was mediocre, a mix of standard textures, blurry fallout london textures and some HD textures.
Here is a example. The swan is from Fallout London
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3299359449
and Reshade[reshade.me] with Tonemap and Adaptive Sharpen filter with default settings.
Adaptive Sharpen filter strongly recommended, cleans out the screen. No more blurriness. Maybe this is enough for you.
I was able by renaming the Fallout 4 folder to have both version installed. A batch file does the rest.
Fun fact: GoG is using Fallout 4 version from steam. GoG only changed the steam wrapper not asking for steam.
The current version of the game is all that you can technically get here. Yes, there are download depots that you can use IF you are capable of understanding how insanely complex you have to bend to get the downgrade to actually work.
When you need to verify the game files, your game instantly upgrades back to the Next Generation.
That is incompatible with FOLON again.
Buying the goty edition on GoG and running them on different drives is the best solution for either one.
@Genu, thanks I'll check it out and see if makes a difference. Hopefully, I don't blow up this whole thing. And, I'm sorry if I am being dense, but just to confirm, is this compatible with Fallout London? I thought I read somewhere there was a graphics DLC that specifically caused the game to crash a lot, and people were recommending it be disabled or uninstalled.
Thanks everyone! Really hoping to get this working and looking good. I'm so excited. I mean we're never going to get another good official Fallout game the way things are looking :(
Do the same with your Fallout 4 settings located at documents\my games\fallout4
step two: Run the downgrade patcher. Optional: Before your start installing FOLON make a backup copy of the steamapps\common\fallout 4 folder again. I named it Fallout4.163
step three: Install folon. Your Fallout 4 folder will be rewritten. Optional: Do a backup again.
result: 3 backup folders and your normal fallout 4 folder
fallout 4
fallout 4.980
fallout 4.163
fallout 4.london
You want to play the current Fallout 4 Nextgen? rename 'fallout 4.980' to 'fallout 4'.
You want to play the current Fallout 4 Pre-gen? rename 'fallout 4.163' to 'fallout 4'.
You want to play the current Fallout London? rename 'fallout 4.london' to 'fallout 4'.
same technique applies to the settings folder located at documents\my games\fallout4
this is not rocket science.
the renaming process can be done with a bat-file.
