Repair Power Armor for caps?
Yeah I know you can repair Power Armor in your own Power Armor stations. At cost of materials and time. Probably the best way. Suppose you are out in the world on a mission. Not by a base. Who and where can do that? Is that an option? Atom Cats Garage? Can they do it for a cost or anybody? Or even BOS?

There are power armor stations all around the Commonwealth where you can repair your armor, as long as you are carrying the right junk items for parts. AFAIK, there are no paid armor repairmen in-game.

OK that makes sense. So I just need to repair my own. I've seen some of those stations around. I usually use my own obviously. Because I have more supplies now that I have supply lines connected. A non connected random one would be tougher to use. Just for lack of supplies. But good to know there are no paid repair options. I would prefer that as an option. But if it isn't one it's good to know.
If you wanna use power armor 24/7, I strongly recommend T-51, best protection for easy to repair armor (on the fly). You only need steel, maybe some circuitry and aluminum if the torso gets damaged. I use my X-01 only for display or for very hard battles.

Yeah that's what I don't like. It's too much to repair it. Especially at out in the world stations not even connected to your settlements. The lower levels are easier to repair. I like my T - 60. But even that is bit much to repair. I haven't even come across the X - 01 Armor yet.

I honestly go without Power Armor most of the game. Which you can do. You just have to use more stimpacks, duck behind cover, long range rifles, throw grenades from range. You have to soften stuff up more and use tactics. It's not just full frontal assault brute force. Like Power Armor. Yeah I see the advantage. I just HATE repairing it and the materials cost and even the time consuming tedious aspect.
And don't forget to pick up the spare mats from the repair stations, if you use them.
When I run around with power armor, I usually give it to my companion if it is too damaged and repair the parts at home.

You either need steel or aluminum to repair. Possibly some circuitry depending on head/chest condition.

You should NEVER ever have a steel shortage. There is literally ten thousand million guns in the game to grab and scrap.

Aluminum is a problem. Circuitry maybe. However that is what they make shipments for.

Also anything stored in the power armor repair stations is NOT eaten by cell resets. Which means you can use a close local one repeatedly if it has materials rather than traveling all the way back to a settlement.

That's not a bad idea. Maybe find a few out in the world. Store some junk in there. But not too much. I like it mostly for my settlements and attached supply lines. I could see adding some junk of specific items to certain stations you might use in heavy concentration areas.

For example, when I first head towards Cambridge there is a LOT of crap to pick up and no nearby settlement. So OI take the stuff to the Cambridge Red Rocket and scrap the stuff using the workstations. Then I store it while out getting more. Then later I will come back for it.

That makes sense.

I also find it very useful to bring stuff and store stuff in the power armor station in Far Harbor since you have no settlement.
Don't waste your caps for shipments. Circuitry is in telephones (police stations have plenty of them) and those cooking/heater thingy, the diner at Cambridge Red Rocket should have one or two. Look for the coffee pot in the kitchen, lol. Aluminum spawns at Wicket Shipping and Drumlin Diner on a regular basis.

Edit: It helps a lot to grab all your junk from time to time and activate "component view" in your Pipboy, to see what components are in the junk items.

I actually like the T-60 (I know many people don't, but I'm really fond of it tbh). Aluminum, Steel, and...uh, I forgot the last one, its not consequential though. Fairly easy to repair, as I always make sure I have some spare materials with me when I'm out in it. At higher levels I can stay in PA nearly 24/7 and getting out of it is usually a matter of preference more than anything else.

I know mods are a thing too, but I try not to tamper with power armor outside of aesthetic mods and paints.
