The fight at Boston airport
I always thought the last fight with the BoS if you side with the Institute, felt rushed. I hate how the whole things is rushed and chaotic. 9 times out of 10 I do not get to fight Maxson when he comes it his vertibird and on the rare chances I do get to fight him, I get teleported out before I get to loot his battle coat and gun.

Or sometimes he doesn't even turn up at all, the count down happens then you just get teleported out. It's worse on survival mode because you can't just save scum it.

I would of preferred it if was slowed down and the player had more control over when Liberty Prime fired at the airship.

I just had to vent, so much loot gets wasted with that rushed mess of a battle.

I think that if you kill the main characters right away you have a better chance at fighting Maxson, but could be wrong.

The problem with killing Maxson in time, is that finding the vertibird hes in can be difficult.
And he tends to jump out of the vertibird and land in the strangest places. 99% of the time, I have to kill the synth myself, and then go looking for him. For me, he tends to wind up somewhere on the wrong side of the airport, and completely de-aggroes, and just sits there.

Hmm possibly, I'll keep that in mind for next time.

Yeah, it's so annoying. That's happened to me before on another play through, he jumped out near the coast on the other side, then I was desperately running there to finish him off and get his great battle coat, but ofcourse I got teleported away. The one I did today, his vertibird just vanished in the chaos.

That's why I wish the player could control the pace of the scripting a little.

Well, you can kind of prepare. I usually build up the airport settlement with missile turrets on towers, and bring several suits of power armor to move into place at entry and choke points, so I can limit where the brotherhood can and cant get to. And then you can just kill the synth and let it respawn at your leisure. He wont respawn if your not on the platform. So as soon as you can confirm that Maxson has entered the battle, just hop away from Liberty Prime and blast the synth. You should be good to get around as you need, if you've set everything up right.
Often wondered why the BoS is keen to obliterate what would otherwise be a stronghold and technological vestige. reality is that once found, they'd seek to secure that location to no end, as base of operations at the least. just smacks of publishers trying to heave this title out the door just in time for the holidays and another settlement needs your help, General.

I break off from the fight when I spot Maxson, because I want to kill his fascist ass myself and take that sweet coat of his. I missed my chance last time (and this time because I didn't take the institute version of that fight) because he showed up and almost instantly got ganked by all the synths.

Ha OK thanks. Will try that next time.

One of the things I wish I'd managed with my first character is taking Maxson's power armour frame (not just the plating), which requires you to force him out of it by targeting the fusion core as usual.

Even though I know there's really nothing different about its statistics, having a named power armour frame is just a kind of trophy I like to get. It's one of (I think) about three different named frames.

Yeah I hear you, i'm the same, I like my trophies too. Been thinking about what Varanus said and i think next time i'm on that quest I might turn off survival mode and try all the methods mentioned to increase your chance of success. I know I can do the mission on survival, did it without cheating last night. So might just do the old console trick to turn survival off and on again.
