Molecular Level - Preston won't speak about the blueprints! Help, please?
I have an issue where Preston won't speak to me about the quest, he has his usual dialogue such as "You need something, how you feeling, follow me, etc" but not the quest dialogue.

How would I fix it? Is it some variable? A quest stage? Does anyone know how I can force a conversation? I've been experimenting with the "StartConversation player ___" command but haven't been able to figure out where I can find dialogue topics or how I would type the command into the console.

There's very little information out there and most of the helpful people are too busy helping themselves.

I think you need to talk to Sturges.

If it is about building up Sanctuary with beds indoors, food, water and defences then yes, you need to speak to Sturges (I haven't restarted in a while and Molecular Level rings no bells as a quest name...)

If you have just got back from Concord with the survivors from the Museum of Tax Dodging - sorry - Freedom, it's definitely Sturges. :)

How far are you into the quest?

Did you complete the required quests for minutemen?

Wlakthru here, via "Fallout four Molecular level" google search. This is just the first of many that are available.

Good thing I wasn't too "busy" to help someone that come off as a jerk.

Do you mean the endless radiant fetch quests that Preston send you on? Yes, I've finished all of them and I'm 650 hours beyond Concard; the start of the game.

While I appreciate the response, I'm afraid this article is of no use to me. I've have been searching Google for hours in fact and the only issue people seem to have with the Molecular Level is comprehending the concept of collision when placing the Signal Interceptor.

I'm looking for something more more techincal, as in console commands. I had an issue with Mama Murphy in mid December and nobody helped. For over a month I refused to progress in the story and I only solved the issue today. Here is the thread. Now here I am with another issue and I presumably won't find a way to solve it any time soon.

I'll keep testing and testing until I solve it.

Are you at the point were you have to get a faction to build you the teleporter? If you are just get another faction to build it for you if preston won't talk to you about it you can still side with the minutemen later on.

The quest name i'm not sure of, and i believe you can try manually setting the stage, but I'm not sure what each of them are called... the "help" console command may shed some light, but I'm not all that experienced with FO4Edit to mine for quest stage names.

Yes, I'm at the part where you decide what faction you're going to build the teleporter with. I suppose you're right, I could but I want to solve this issue.

Isn't it MQ206?

Sqs MQ206 - Shows all the quest stages.
Sqo MQ206 - Shows all the objectives of the quest in the pipboy
SetObjectiveDisplayed # 1 - Makes it so that it's your current objective
SetObjectiveCompleted # 1 - Sets it completed.
ReloadScript "QuestScriptName" - Only viewable in FO4Edit
SetQuestAliases MQ206 - Unsure what it does exactly.
ClearQuestAliases MQ206 - Again, unsure.

I know all of this above and I've tried kill, resurrect, disable, enable, recycleactor, and resetai on Preston but it seems to be tied to something else. An unknown variable perhaps.
