You dont even have to dig in the files, just listen to NPC's. I have heard more them mention power armor races by the atom cat mroe than once in the little side chatter they have.
Bethesda has gotten from rusty to barely working at all
Sometimes things don't meet deadlines... Sometimes a concept just doesn't appear to be working out to expectations so, rather than investing more development time into something which they're already not happy with, they'll cut their losses and move onto other content...
It's actually pretty common in games development...
There is also a quest associated with them, can't remember the exact specifics, but I can remember a Gunners attack on their compound as part of it...
they are gunners not raiders.
And its possible to kill them all without losing anyone from the Atom Cats. Zeke congradualtes you on being so bad-a$$, makes you an honnorary Atom Cat and litterlay give you the shirt (and pants) off his back (though he instantly seems to have another set lol).
to be fair, Power Armor was very common before the bombs for military use, and is something that obviously was designed so that it survived the fallout.
Also, the Atom Cats do more than just sit around in their armor. We know from entries into the logs of raiders and gunners computers that they sucessfully scraped with, and won against, both the gunners and raiders. They use the armor to defend their settlement.
Further, we also know from the Warwick mission that the Atom Cats are good people who help others in need.
I would personaly like to see more of their missions. The bravado and slang used reminds me of the Kings from FO:NV, would like to see them take a similar role in terms of content. Not mainline players, but definantly something to remember.
