Game doesn't think I have gears in my inventory when I actually do.

I have several gears in my inventory that I planned to use for crafting weapon mods, but the game says that I don't have any in the workshop menu. I have tried everything I can think of and even giving more with console commands, but nothing worked. I tried to find something about this glitch but there is nothing on it except for another Steam discussion trhat has no replies. If anyone has some method to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to add this, It started happening after I got the M2216 standalone weapon mod. I had the M9 standalone weapon mod too, but I uninstalled it becasue I though it was cause some kind of conflict. Still can't use gears for crafting though. Sometimes the game crashes when I try to use the gears.

Are they proper gears or the ones that break down to steel? They tricked me once too. Put them in the workshop and put your cursor over them and see if the component list says steel. Go get some type writers for some gears.

Desk fans also contain 3 (iirc) gears.... Another good source is scrapping 10mm pistols and pipe weapons, if you're not worried about selling them for caps...

Look out for Adjustable Wrenches as they are, IMO, the best source of gears in game...

They are extremely common and contain 1 gear and some steel each, and only weigh 0.5lb...

Its like crafting daggers in Skyrim. I can do it or just "player.advskill smithing 999999999999". I rather save the time and just do what I like instead.

I had the wrong gear type. I started scavenging typewriters and now I can fally mod out my guns. Thanks!
