Any good melee weapons i can get early game?

By early game i mean level 1-10.

as long as i dont have to pay for it, it's alright with me.

Currently just using a tire iron.

you can buy a powerfist at dimond city but its pretty expencive

Wounding Ripper would be perfect. All you need to do is find a legendary enemy and pray for lady luck.

At that level. the baton you pick up in Vault 111 is pretty good. If you're lucky, a Raider might drop a Bladed Tire Iron, which is very effective at low levels. Switchblade isn't much of an upgrade, but it drops often and its speed makes it better when used outside of VATS.

If you're going Unarmed, you'll probably have to settle for Knuckles for awhile. Boxing Gloves drop very rarely and the one i've found is a ways away.

Eventually you will discover the wonder that is Blitz. Then you can close the gap with VATS, and proceed to cut them to ribbons without it. Ripper is stupidly fun for this, especially a Staggering one. Cripple, Stagger and Disarm, all in one!

Well, i mean i got a kneecapping gatling laser on my BoS Save, so that would be nice. :P

You can get General Chao's Revenge from Trudy at the Drumlin Diner which is a Chinese sword that does 50% more damage to robotic enemies. Whatever you do though, don't kill her as you can't get it from her corpse.

There's a small group of raiders to the south of Sanctuary Hills - camped out next to a pylon, just up from the 'dump site' by the river where you can pick up an army helmet and some meds (usually surrounded by flies and mozzies). Every time I've gone there and killed them off I've had a good melee weapon or armor set drop. If you go there I'm hoping you have the same luck :)

There's also a person who I *think* is a potential settler nearby, but s/he always gets killed by the raiders in my games :(
