yes the combat rifle kinda fills that spot but sadly it doesnt fullfill my inner intrest.
also im missing a lever action rifle in fallout 4 would be nice if was in the game just a small reminder of fallout 3 or something and then a random guy in commonwealth would own this gun and preach about Lincon while having Lincons Repeater or something in a box on the wall of his shop
Y sorry im just missing some weapons that didnt make fallout 4 maybe there are more missing.
First Lincon Repeater (semi action single shot rifle)
Second the mind gun thing (mease mea of something)
Third the slingshot gun with a car on the front of it
it would be cool to have the Lincon Repeater back in the game but i geusse thats a rarity unless its hidden in a top secret bunker that lasted very long xd
The combat rifle is sexy, assault rifle even better, but get your hands on a railway rifle. Trust me. I thought that sucker was going to be under the big guns perk due to the size but even without perk bonuses, it's one of the most OP weapons out there. Ammo is an issue tho.
If you want something stupidly OP, get a legendary Fat Man that shoots double projectiles, then MIRV mod it. It's so strong it'll instagib *you* most of the time. From long range.
I used to play with no VATS in FO3 and FONV, but in FO4 is terrible to skip VATS.
- You have to mod the weapons very focused for non-VATS action.
- Most of the combat perks are VATS based.
- Three S.P.E.C.I.A.L. are all about VATS (PER, LUC, AGI)
- The critical bar...
In any case, when skipping VATS, the ammo consumption goes crazy, even with decent aiming.
I was preparing a comparison video, counting spent bullets... I have to work more on it, but results are absurd so far, really.
btw, the best two automatic weapons in FO4 obtainable at level one are Overseer Guardian and Spray and Pray... they are good in any case, but much better with VATS
I avoid VATS 99% of the time and consider it a waste in Fallout 4 when compared to other Fallout titles it was a stable. That's both a tribute and an insult to how well the gunplay is in Fallout 4 to the point you never need VATS and when it comes to core features in games being diminished to the point of non-use, that's a pathetic job on the Developer's part.
I'm not talking about perk class on Gatling Laser. I'm talking about the fact that it's an automatic weapon by definition. For the perk qualifying class of weapons... You're in a tough spot until the kit is out. Too much of a damage penalty on the auto receivers, especially when you factor in all the extra missed shots and scarcity of ammo. We'll definitely need a rebalancing mod for automatic pistols/rifles.
Ok I hear that. The Cryolator is also an "automatic" weapon but under the big guns perk and pretty much decimates anything once modified.
hmm, I think devs made a good work in some areas, but I really hope they work on re-balancing the non-VATS alternative a bit.
For me, to play non-VATS in FO3 was a pleasure.
In FO3 the Chinese Assault Rifle was pretty good for non-VATS. The 10mm Sub-Machine Gun was ok too. Legendary versions, even better. Ammo stock for both was keepable. Perks and SPECIAL were not so VATS oriented... I used to feel pretty confident playing non-VATS...
For me, to play non-VATS in FO4 is a pain.
Even going for the best "rapid fire" weapons at level one, I feel under-powered playing non-VATS, spending too much ammo, having to skip many perks choices, making SPECIAL points useless...
I was ultra lucky and got an Assassin's plasma rifle. First thing I did was convert it to a Plasma Thrower and never need Vats again. I let them come to me, and welcome to Melt Disney World.
Don't get me wrong everyone has their own preferences and weapon types and thats one of the great things about Fallout, the choice of weaponry, but flat out claiming they are useless because you either don't have the aptitude to use them properly, don't mod correctly or just prefer single shots is plain daft.
Personally i run around with an instigating .50 Sniper, 2 shot shotgun and a fully modded assault rifle (not legendary) and there is nothing i cannot wipe out before it gets anywhere near me which is why i rarely end up using the shotgun anyway and i never use VATS as you really don't need to with the better gunplay in Fallout 4.
