Controller Question: How to toggle run/walk?
Bit long story. I am enjoying fallout 4 with nearly 800 pound of junks and using the strongback peak to move around (don't have fast travel yet).

Without a way to toggle run/walk via keyboard. I am struggling with Action Point generation and conservation.

My savegame default to have always run when I load them on my laptop.

Using the running action on controller will just cause me to run and break stealth. Not very helpful heh. I am using xbox 360 usb on windows 10.

This option is not directly available to controller users. I also use a 360 controller and your only real option is to have better stick control. You will walk when you only deflect the stick just slightly and its a fairly slow walk, any more and you will start to drain action points.

Unfortunatly crouching doesnt work as that still drains action points.. go figure.

So yeah no toggle for controllers sorry.

Kind of figured that out by now.

I even tried to switch the "sprint" hotkey to a button. Lets be honest we don't need to jump that often right? So as soon I move my stick too much and it start drain action points like you said. Kind of missed up logic no?

You chose to use a controller. As a fellow controler player I have to point out that one of the few advantages Controllers have over the Mouse/KB combo is having analouge movemt ability. It is litteraly one of the defining differences between using a keyboard and being forced to toggle, vs using a controller and having full range of speed via a stick.

Use the controller the right way. Learn to have better stick controll and just walk.

I already knew about the using stick a tiny bit to walk vs run.

I don't know about your controller. My is really really sensitive. Move like a cm in any direction it will walk but anymore than that = loss of AP which can be crippling in a battle. I will eventually handle my inventory better but this is what I am at currently.

This just happen to be one of those rare instance where keyboard/mouse vs controller actually win out at least for me.

use your follower as a pack mule. Once they cant cary any more just drop the heavies items in your inventory on the ground and order the companion to pick it up, they will regardless of being full already. Allows you to pack out well over 1,000lbs if you priotise the items a bit. Hold your heviest things untill the end, give them all the small stuff through the menu, then drop the heavy items and tell them to grab em.

I havent tested this on dogmeat but there is no reason it wouldnt work with him or other dogs if you preffer not to have a normal follower. If you just like running solo, well, sorry but thats not the way to be a pack-rat in this game lol.

Does not work with dogmeat, he will just pick the item up in his mouth and bring it to you.

no option for controller and pc has two; 'hold C' or use Caps lock. Surely Something for x360pad.
and what do you press in sniping for Alt-hold breath?

Hold breath has to be the worst mapped key for controllers, it litterally is the left stick pushed straight down, so its almost impossible to Not move position when useing it.

yeah I Hate the Fo4 keys, worst ever. I might dig out my Razer Nostromo n52 claw but I'm guessing Fo4 will complain.

Offtopic and 1 year necro. Promise me you'll buck up.

I hate how on pc you toggle sprint and its not an option to hold. I cant play like that even with hundreds of hours.

Holding down for a long time a button key button is a recipe for pain.

I rather have toggle to be honest.

Also necro.
