I s Hangman's Alley undefensible??
Seems to be so, too small, the back gate has no room to put much defense, there is a small side entrance that is very hard to mount turrents near, and Raiders and Super Mutants spawn constantly!

I've given up, scrapped everything, sent settlers to other settlements:steamsad:

i put a defence tower at the far back end and wedged it as close to the wall as possible (not actually used it just blocks the way), i also put a single railing in front of the side entrance on the same end of the alley, so the only entrance available to the AI pathing is the actual door near the pre buit structures.

Ive had 9 people there for some time with only about 6 machinegun turrets placed on the awnings. its only been attacked twice with this setup and the entrance is a kill zone for the turrets.

I haven't tried that place yet, but can't you wall off the side entrance and build small, tall towers that you can place heavy machine gun turrets on?

You can also place turrets on the fire escapes railings.

You can delete the back gate and put something up at the start of the short alley leading to the river. I personally put up higher guard station. I have turrets back there in case they teleport in. also that is the open area i put the plants. Sure the area is a bit tight but this opens it up some. I currrently have 14 people in there with food for 18, water for 20, 20 beds in 2 stacked buildings, and 90 defense. The place takes care of itself.

No, it's probably one of the easiest. Just remember that raiders can spawn in the middle of the settlement and put a turret were it can cover the center.

any way with the console to exactly identify the spawn point?
then I could build a giant concrete block right on top of it, let them spawn inside that!

I discovered you can build up a few storeys. I now have 15 settlers in Hangman's Alley and it's happy (68-80 ish) and not being attacked that I've noticed.

I'm surprised too :)

Yep, build vertically and cover the place with heavy turrets and just outside the main door up high and as anyone walks in. I get the call and by the time I show up all I have to do is strip the enemy bodies of their goodies. Those turrets fill the air with lead. I'm waiting to find some settlers field stripping and cooking up some raider. Be sure to repair any heavy turrets before you leave.

No console codes used. If you take the time rotate and place floors and walls you can find spots where they will clip inside building walls.

It is one of my favorite areas to build in. Only thing I do not like is when the Brahmin move in.

My Hangmans Alley has never been attacked in like 150 hours of play. I only have a couple of turrets there and 15 inhabitants, mostly the former followers. You should hear the clamor when I enter power armor there:)

I did console lock the side door (it is Chained!)
and put 2 ice boxes on the inside to block settlers from opening it
