Mods to get?
I finished the main game, and I am thinking of running some mods I've heard of now, like the bigger settlements, etc. What do you guys recommend? Also, because this uses the same engine as Skyrim, do I need a script extender? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

Keep an eye on this page, he does a good job at updating the thread and sorting all the mods that work 100%

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3642835-ultimate-fallout-4-mod-compilation-100-working-mods-with-installation-instructions/

as for what you need, just make a nexus account and download Nexus Mod Manager and configure it to find your fallout 4, easiest way to install them

as for what I I recommend, I mainly just use texture mod changes, didn't want to mess with the gameplay too much

I highly recommend Rebalancer because it can change a big list of things so the game is more challenging and fun.

These are what I'm using now without any problems.

If you're after Realism, my post from that thread:

Good set of mods that play well together
Realism / Survival

True Storms
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4472/?
Increased chance of different weather, less types per day, more types.

Commonwealth Chemistry Expanded
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2514/?
New chems, explosives, and syringer ammo - options for modified vanilla values, or default.
Reaper Syringe is my favorite by far. Works well for Stealth / Smash and run tactics.
There are 45 recipes..
Balances nicely with the next mod.

Arbitration
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2037/?
Revamps stealth system, aggro ranges, more diverse aggro'd enemy AI.
Plays very well on Survival with the above mod.
Open combat with multiple assailants is something to be feared..
Supermutants.. yeah. They are Off-Limits for early game gear.
I play on player damage x2.5, enemy damage x4. Guaranteed death if hit by a missile without power armor. Which I dont use. Because I didn't have to earn it.. But even with PA...
Makes it so you have a lot to worry about, and very few engagements can be taken lightly.
Only Issue I have with this mod, is during heavy fog from True Storms, 'they' can see you, but you can't see them. This can be remedied by disabling the Fog in True Storms mod activation prompts.

Less Loot And Ammo
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2593/?
I play at 70% reduction.
Options for percentile reduction amount.

Realistic Explosives
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4128/?
For now only affects Missile Launcher: projectile speed, makes it affected by gravity, changes how it deals damage, basically turns it into an anti-tank round (less splash damage, drastically more direct hit damage)

Also have a hud mod that removes enemy markers from the compass, and the stealth indicator.

^^ All 6 make for a very different fallout 4 experience.. Alot like Misery 2 mod for Stalker Call of Pripyat. This is how f4 should have came out, in my opinion. or at least an option for a survival mode that didnt just fill the game with bullet sponges. Love me some Survival Realism.

This is how I play F4. It is harder, and requires much more tactical effort. Killing a group of enmies to get that missile launcher, is a game changer; never felt better.

Because, fps. Its not 4k. Its for those with lesser rigs. Still looks good imo, and my CPU and GPU aren't screaming full bore now.

IMO I've told people in meatspace my advice is to take a break, play another game (there are so many), and come back to it later when GECK and DLCs are out. The mod scene will be radically different within 2 weeks following GECK's release.

I like this chummer ^ He's speaking the most sense. Mods just aren't worth it yet because patches will continue to break them and modders get lazy/stop supporting. Wait for the complete edition.

I agree, but there are some very good mods out for this early.. mods that turned something I barely wanted to play into something I cant put down..

Mods certainly are helpful. Managed to play for about 100 hours until I was like "ok, lets see what the Nexus has..."

Needless to say, 200+ hours later, and I can tell you there are a ton of mods out there that fix or add things that should have been in the base game on release.

Yeah. I wasn't looking to get anything real heavy duty, or at least, I dunno, maybe run them for a new character. I just finished the game two hours ago.

I got the more radio songs mod working, so I think I might just run with something like that.

Don't get me wrong I mod the sheeeet out of Skyrim with 56+ and New Vegas up the Wazoo... but Fallout 4 is still a baby and needs to learn to walk first.

Words of Wisdom. I think I'll follow this. Thanks for the advice.

Thats what they're doing without the GECK, learning to walk ;)

But it takes care of the smell. New Vegas for instance STANK when it was released. It's still fugly game even with mods but the mods help with the smell and make it enjoyable.
