Providing 20 power to something you build
Let me phrase this in a way that doesn't contain any spoilers ;)

I'm building this power-hungry thing you need to build during the main quest line and it needs 20 units of power. I just built 3 big generators and wired them together, but it doesn't seem that enough power it being delivered.

Do I have to run separate wires from each generator to the power-hungry thing?

The generators need to be connected to the object in question.

This can be indirect; you can wire generator A to generator B to generator C to object, for instance. Pylons can be used at intermediate points if you want to put the generators further away.

That big 3 legged thing on the platform has to be fitted onto the smaller glowing thing underneath. Actually connected together, not standing alone.

Aah!

Turns out I had made two mistakes. First one was that with the turrets, I was short by 2 power units, second one was exactly what Vince said.

Thank you both, it works now :)
