Spectacle Island defences.
Quick question, where do you get attacked from at Spectacle Island? My base has 2 walls facing the sea while the other 2 are facing land. Can enemies come from the sea or do they just spawn on 1 side of the island and run to the other? Im debating whether to build defences facing out to sea/land, or not.

Also, does anybody know WHAT type of enemies attack you? Is it the usual Super mutants/raiders and such, or do thinks like mirelurks attack you aswell?

Thanks ;3

the whole island has multiple spawn points, and settlers wont stay where you build, they will wander off into butt **** nowhere while the other side of the island is being attacked.

Can't remember spectacle ever being attacked. Not on my first run through anyways. Once you set up the radio signal the sea creatures leave you alone. At least they did on my island.

I put 30 turrets all over the island first time. This time i have 10 so far.

Just another fun place to build up.

Put up a siren somewhere and surround it with defenses.

As far as I can tell there are three spawn locations. One of them is by what I refer to as "The Brahmin Pen" which is the fenced off area next to the tool shed thing, one of them is about half-way down the island next to the signal emitter thing, and the last one is on the far end in the general area of the ship. They will spawn at ALL three points in the event of an attack.

And as near as I can tell Spectacle Island is subject to the exact same enemy list that everywhere else is. I've been attacked there twice now; once was raiders, the other was Gunners.

Two attacks by Raiders.

The island has a huge build limit and a pretty impressive ceiling, so you could always build platforms up high with missile turrets and heavy lasers (pretty long range for these); the highest ground is not that far from the center of the island, so it's not like there's lots of ridges to block LOS.

I was attacked at Spectacle Island just recently. It was Super Mutants, all Warlords with glowing hounds. They spawned up on the north shore by the ruined house, etc.

I built a tower on the high ground, near the trailer and beacon, etc. It's five stories with balconies and loaded with heavy machine gun and laser turrets. They didn't go near the water purifiers on the beach.

The attack surprised me because I specifically didn't build a radio beacon to attract settlers. I chose the six people I wanted there to tend food and that is it. They don't make much food or water, no traders, caravans or even artillery defences. I thought that might keep them safe and let me use the island as a secret sanctuary...I was wrong. (Perhaps flying in and out on Vertibirds wasn't a smart way to keep a "secret"?)

So I added another defensive tower on a hill by that old house and threw up several more turrets around the old shacks.

The place is much too big to defend like a fortress, so I went with strategically located defensive installations that provide 360 degree coverage. Everything is centralized which means the enemy must cover the ground to harm my settlers. Adding towers at spawn points will slow them down at least.

For me the island is just a playground to experiment with defense towers. The first three towers I built right down the center high point of the island using a stack of the self leveling wooden foundation platforms proved as effective as anything else I have done. With heavy machine guns and rockets the towers kill every enemy type of any invasion placed anywhere on the island. I try to place an army of 12 each time. If you clear the island the guns can see and reach almost every inch of land.

I have yet to build anything else there or advertise for settlers so I can't say what the game will do with it then.
