Have played it with mods and gone back and stripped them out, clean saved and played thru...either way the Castle area breaks during Taking Independence.
This has got to be a patch fix. Something in the quest/area is TARFU
so I don't even trust that settlement because of this, I'm not even gonna bother building on it, I just quickly do all the missions on it and leave the place
Been all over the web looking and this looks to be a pretty repetative issue with Santuary, Monsignoor Plaza, the Caslte. Looks like this needed to cook a little longer in beta?
Think I'm about done. Anyone got any clues how to fix?
DId you try a new game? Honestly never saw this problem for before.
Validate your files just in case a file is missing or got corrupted.
Start a new game (Your old character will be safe). Go through the start sequence and exit the vault. Hard Save your game here.
Now enter the console and type exactly as printed:
COC TheCastleExt
Now press enter and exit the console. If its worked and you are successfully in the castle then your game saves may have gotten borked or mods, INI tweaks, console use are to blame.
Next thing to do is re-enable your INI tweaks and try again by porting there same as before. If it works then rule that out and add back in your Mods and try again. If it works then, it could either be a mod with a script that's started to play badly after prolonged use.
If you suspect a script then go through all of your Mods that you were using at the time (On your main save), visit their nexus page and look at the uninstall instructions. If any say you have to use a stop command from the console then note it down, check all mods.
If you found any scripts removal instruction. Load your save thats corrupt (Make sure the script mods are enabled via nexus mod manager). Enter the console and use all the Stop commands to uninstall the mods. Exit console, save game, exit game, remove mods completely, restart game, load save and use the above COC command again.
If it work then happy days, if not then your save is probably beyond repair.
Hopefully when we get GECK and the modding community has created tools (Not sure how far they have gotten yet) then the process of uninstalling script mods will be easy as they was in Skyrim.
Good luck.
