Dogmeat Glitch/BUG PLEASE HELP

I finished the "Getting a clue" quest and then i sent dogmeat home. But when i got there and tried to press dogmeat it only says "Show cigar" and it will not let me press on him or anything. I have tried countless console commands and nothing works because i have already finished that quest a long time ago. I cannot load an earlier save because it was one of the very first things i did and that was a really long time ago i was level 4ish i am now level 57. Someone PLEASE HELP

I did that mission twice so far, never had that bug

becareful with console commands, they can and will cause problems overtime

also could be a mod conflict if you are using any of those

You might have to tought it out until the geck comes, Then you could find the base ID for dogmeat and just delete him and respawn him.

You could try finding the id somehow but i dont know of any ways off hand besides looking in the geck.

I think thats your only option though is to delete and respawn him and even that may not work.

Thanks but it didnt work haha i wish there was a way to enable the quest again but i have tried every console command in the book and nothing worked. I dont know what to do. i wish there was a file or somthing i could change in the actual game file. But it seem no one else has had this problem.

First you can just target Dogmeat, open the console and type disable close the console and Dogmeat will disapper. Then reopen the console and type enable ( do not click on anything once you reopen the consle or you will lose his id# ) If that doesn't fix your problem then finding the quest ID and restarting it would be the next option.

Try loading back an older save and playing from then on.. It's always the failsafe when nothing else works, lol.

i loaded my old save and i did it all over again. Now dogmeat works.

in my old save where i was level 4 i had already finished the "getting a clue" quest but it turns out instead of dogmeat going to the settlement like i asked him to, he went to diamond city and thats where the glitch happed , so i was able to show him the cigar and fix everything. Thanks Everyone :) It means a lot !
