You need to have certain levels in the Science perk for different mods at the Weapons Bench. When in the crafting menu, it should show you whats available, and what perks and materials are needed for each mod.
It's Overpowered.I walked into a room and mowed down everyone in the room in 2 clips. If it was moddable then people would just put Scatter on it and have a ACTUAL minigun laser shotgun.
Plus it's suppose to be a joke towards old Fashion miniguns(before IRL Miniguns) where you had to keep cranking to fire.
The Auto L-M itself is a Minuteman Ending Quest Reward what is the point of it being a Ending reward if you can find it normaly?
I found one to some time ago Scattered Automatic Laser Muskete
I did manage to mod it at one point by dropping two Laser Muskets (Including the Automatic one) and picking them up again, non-auto one first and auto second.
It started off with a scatter mod but I couldn't change the muzzle as the option simply wasn't there, and the crank type was replaced with the "Automatic" mod and couldn't be changed, either.
Everything else could be changed, but if I changed it to a non-bracketed barrel (The generic Laser Musket barrel) then the muzzle would be removed and would be unable to be retrieved.
The Automatic legendary musket isn't quest-specific, you can find as many of them as you want. I'm making it a personal mission to find as many as I can on my Minuteman character.
Sorry about the necro but thank you so much i just had the same bug and i did what you said and now i'm able to mod everything on it (minus the automatic part.)
You find it off of a legendary enemy. Just picked it up now. Also, I believe you're looking for the term 'Gatling gun.' 'Old Crank Minigun' is making me die inside
For anyone not understanding: Once I completed the Minuteman ending "The Nuclear Option" and then I talked to Sturgis (Just on a whim, actually) and he gave me the musket. It was immediately after that where no laser muskets would show up in the list when I went to a weapons bench.
Doing the drop and pick up thing seemed to fix that code.
Again, thanks man! That was a helluva find there :)
