Melee weapon mods?
Is there a way to unlock more because I'm only seeing one or two mods per melee weapon.

its very limited

blacksmith is a pretty useless perk, its only really useful for unarmed as it allows you to mod PA arms to offset the fact that you can't use any unarmed weapons in PA

I never take it for melee, you can buy already modded melee weapons from moe, cricket, kleo and arturo and they will available before you could get them with blacksmith

on my current playthrough i got to DC at level 6 and was able to buy a serrated machete which I would not have been able to craft till later level, you can use save & reload to get the modded weapons you want, save before going into DC and reload if arturo dosen't have it

Some weapons get a variety, but most it's straight upgrades.

The Chinese sword is a standout example for letting you give it razors for bleed, add elecritc stun damage, or BOTH.

Baseball Bat has a lot of options, even if a chunk of that is "What kind of wood would you like?" cosmetic if you don't go with aluminum. A sawblade baseball bat is really effective though.

Even that "One upgrade" to turn a Tire Iron into an Axe that causes bleed, is surprisnigly good.

I do admit, for how "Few" the options are, I like these a lot.

Because let's face it. As much as I miss some of the weapons from NV, a lot of it was "We have TWO kinds of meat cleavers! And FIVE slightly different Rubber gloves that are different colors!"

I'd rather have two distinct effects for upgrade options on my pool cue, than "Dirty Knife Spear" vs "Clean Knife Spear".

The removal of throwing weapons was terrible though, I can't deny that.

And while I am mocking how many basically pallate swap weapons NV has, The Unarmed situation in Fo4 is decidedly lacking in spread. So you spend half the game with brass knuckles (or maybe some gimmick boxing gloves) before Power Fists and Deathclaw Gauntlets finally start spawning, if you don't google up where to get one early.

Melee though? Melee is fine.

EDIT: Basically, everyone talks up New Vegsa's "Melee weapon mods"

But how much did those really offer, even with DLC? Let's look at the Baseball Bat.

New Vegas DLC enabled Baseball bat: Nails, Cork, and Maple (which just raised item durability).

Fo4 Bat: Cosmetic wood choices, or Aluminum. Nails, chains, sawblades. Yup, that's more options all right. But no, it's Fo4's Bats that are the Dumbed down ones, because ???

And if you remove the DLC addditions from NV, that's even less that NV Has for Melee weapon Mods. Nevermind that NV With DLC isn't actually as impressive as people like to claim compared to Fo4 Vanilla for Weapon Mods choices.

Only one mod for the Tire Iron is too little? Okay, what Mods for Tire Iron did NV Have?

That's a shame with how much they were touting the weapon modding system.
