What is up with their bug that makes me drip coffee on my brand new, white T-shirt? Those jerks don't know what they are doing!!!!!!!!!
Oh sorry, I meant to say THOSE JERKS DON NOW WHAT THEIR DOINK!!!!!!!
(I love hacking terminals in this game just as I have in every other one in the series. It's totally you)
There is nothing wrong with hacking computers in this game, maybe you just don't know how it works?
Neat trick if you don't get it on the third attempt cancel out, and start the hack all over
Exiting the terminal and then coming back in takes up most of the 10 seconds anyway. Not much of a shortcut.
Just get the perk that makes it so you're never locked out, I guess.
Also, just to mention, I also have the same trouble as the OP. At times, the actual password simply doesn't match the "clues" you're given (ie: will say I had 3 letters right, password will have 0 of those letters).
Previous Fallout games weren't like this.
Nice to know that I am not the only one having this issue. Not that it is ruining the game for me, but it is a little bit of a headache
Your "neat trick" has been a staple of terminal hacking since FO3 (at least). It's also entirely unnessecary in FO4 because you can't be locked out for more than a few seconds.
Often, I make my way through the list and get to the end, scratching my head and wondering how I could have missed something so easy. So I go back and start all over again. It always works, the answer is always there.
If your terminals are truly "broken" then you did something to your game that you shouldn't have done. In the vanilla game, terminals work just fine - exactly like every other game in the series since it was introduced.
Having said that, there are differences. In past games, it was easier to pick the answers because they were words that stood out. Now they have a larger vocabulary and this isn't as easy to do as it used to be. They also seem to have put a little effort in adding a bit of confusion by having more words that share basic structures, meaning that there will often be more than one option that fits your criteria - this would appear to be an attempt to confound those who use a systematic approach (ie you will fail more often by running out of choices if you start at the top and work your way down).
I hack every terminal I see and my companions mock me for it. It's not broken.
(My guess would be that the increased difficulty is why they felt it was necessary to make it impossible to be permanently locked out when you fail an attempt)
I really do love how this community really automatically results to calling everyone stupid. I am a rather intelligent human, and these terminals are not difficult by any means for any difficulty. I am pretty sure there might be a rather small bug concerning whether you are getting the correct clues back. How hard would it be do doubt there could be a potential bug concerning this? I mean it is Bethesda after all. Also, if you have nothing to actually contribute to a conversation I would just keep your two cents to yourself
Nothing that you just wrote explains what I described happening.
But thanks for playing, I guess?
Seriously, last time happened to me last night. I remember it because my fiance and I had a good laugh about it.
I chose the word "PLANT" and was told I had 3 matches. The password was "GHOUL".
And no, I have 0 mods that come even remotely close to modifying terminals or anything related to them.
This is exactly what it is about. This forum is clogged with people whining about the game being "brokken" when it is clear that they didn't bother trying to learn the game. For some reason, it became terribly popular for people to jump on this bandwagon and they will make up any ridiculous excuse to do it.
If you say so, it must be true.
Strangely though, I have never seen it despite putting nearly three-hundred hours in so far. Your claims about this game being broken do not override my own personal experience.
From where I'm sitting, my game works fine and this thread is just another example of people trying to blame Bethesda for their own shortcomings.
I consider my comments to be a positive contribution. My hope is that some people might take a moment to consider the fact that they are the source of their own confusion and make an effort to find solutions before posting more comments about this game being "broken".
In this way, perhaps people who enjoy playing the game can get around to having conversations about the game and how we play it, rather than more ranting, unfairly directed at the developers.
Man, if only I had over 300 hours of personal experience to bring to bear too. Oh wait, I do.
"This thing hasn't happened to me, so anyone who mentions it must be an idiot."
You know, in over 300 hours, my game has never crashed while I was playing. I guess this also doesn't happen to anyone else. I've never shot anything to have it fly a thousand yards away, so I guess this doesn't exist also.
...etc.
lulz
It's not just straight up Mastermind.
