Does armor under power armor matter?
Do stat increases, armor, legendary bonuses, etc. apply when you are in power armor?

Nope, when you put on power armor it disables all normal armor and clothing.

There is one oddball exception. If you remove the power armor helmet, then head wear still counts. I know when I take off my helmet, my newsboy cap and fashionable sunglasses still give me my CHA bonus.

Helmet free power armor still causes the power armor HUD though, and also disables the helmet light (doesn't use the pip boy light instead, just no light option).

Nope, PA has it's own bonuses and they will not stack with armour/clothing worn underneath... One of the main reasons I only collect them for the looks, just because I can carry less junk wearing one ;P

How are you getting a +11 STR bonus outside of power armor? Did you grind legendaries until you had +2 STR on Every shred of armor or something?

Power armor itself is +5 Strength (so, +50 pounds), and each of the leg mods for carry capacity is +31 (+62 for both legs). My carry weight is waaaaaaaay Higher when I wear power armor.

Even compared to my Deep Pockets combat armor, which only gives +60 Carry total (and DP still has to count the weight of the armor itself against it).

If you really are getting over +100 Carry weight after deducting the weight of your normal armor, Pretty please tell me how you are pulling this off because it sounds amazing and I Want it.

Fully modded, yes. But it takes a higher level to get the crafting perks up to mod power armor properly.

The PA mod where all targets are highlighted ftw, no more stumble on mirelurks or run into that sleeping deathclaw =P

Yeah, I'd stay away from those. The enemy highlight mod is notoriously buggy and breaks many NPC interactions. Such as making making "supposed to not be hostile right now" just outright open fire on you.

I mean, when they do their job it's great! But buggy as **** (see also, Recon scopes).

Intressting to know, been kind of suspicious why some intreactions in playthrough two have been more towards shoot first and ask questions later type than i remember them from round one. Cheer for the headsup!
Hmm just did a check, didn't even know PA had mods for increased carryweight (just shows you how much I care about them :D)...

But even a fully modded military x-01 with advanced shocks puts my carryweight up to 572... I got 560 on my toon (strength 10 + lone wanderer + strong back, and a full set (of different armour types) of fortyfying, with deep pockets)... So that wasn't too large of a difference. And the point of the weight of my armour is kinda moot, as even with them not working with a PA, it's still in my inventory so the total free space remains the same.

To take it even further, I cheat a little by having CBBE clothing that can also can get deep pocketed, cause yea that bikini totally makes my character stronger (get 600 with them on). But the 560 is legit

For more bizzaro bugs, TV and Jukeboxes in your settlment are tied to the "Settlment stats drop when away from settlment" bug.

I have no idea why removing my jukebox fixed "You now have half as many settlers and Zero Water, until you return and it's back to normal, then it will *** up again" but there it is.

The game is full of settlement buggs, power ususally drops to zero for no appearent reason and as soon as im getting back - wham full power (no repairs after attacks ect). And no... no TV / Jukeboxes in them...

To be fair, a lot of the Power Armor Mods run off SCIENCE ranks. The carry capacity legs are 2 science.

I forgot there was a STR boosting torso mod (unsure by how much) because I kept using the AP refresh torso (3 Science).

So most people grab the first rank of Science so they can upgrade the durability, and that's it.

Not like Strong back or lone wander stops when you put on power armor though, I know mine does.
Late game I was using Ultra-Light for my Heavy combat armor instead of other mods, which also helped on the weight end when I kept my armor in my inventory while using PA.

But I do swear by Deep Pockets as a great QoL mod for normal armor. It helped my looting tendencies when I had only 4 Strength, and no Strong back yet.
