The Molecular Level Quest: Decoding the Chip Bug

Just managed to fix a bug that has been driving me crazy for the last few hours and wanted to share it with whoever is stuck the same way I was.

Basically, at the part you get Tom to decode your chip, Tom didn't do anything, so I was stuck with Desdemone telling to continuously to "Give Tom time." and Tom opening his usual vendor chat without doing anything about the chip. So after a few hours looking for a solution and not finding any, I decided to check if there was any way to fix it with console commands. And guess what, there is!

I found this page http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands with many helpful commands, including a "Quests" tab. The commands I wanted were ShowQuestStages <QuestID> and SetStage <QuestID> <Quest stage number>.
With the first one you can see the numbers for all stages of the quest and which stages are complete. From that I found out that my quest was stuck at stage number 60.
Then I used the second one. It lets you set your quest to another stage, so I set it to the next one in the stage list that ShowQuestStages gave me, which was stage number 65. It did change the objectives, but I still couldn't get anywhere from there, so I tried the next one, stage number 70. And finally, I was able to interact with the terminal on the table and decode the chip myself. Quest is now back on tracks and I can resume the journey.

And the great thing about this fix is that it will probably work on any quest that gets stuck on a stage for some reason, or even let you skip a stage you can't complete because of some other bug.

PS.: to scroll up/down on the console use Page Up/Page Down. I didn't know that before :P
