Can someone explain this to me? (
This is something that has really been bothering me in the game. It is to do with armor stats.

Look at these two screenshots from my game:

Screenshot 1

Screenshot 2

Those are two Metal Left Arm apparel pieces with the same mods on each. They each have the exact same name when listed but their stats are completely different. What the hell is that all about?

Is the one with higher damage resistance a higher level than the other? I am led to believe it's something else than that because they have different weight values!

Why am I having such a hard time with this? Am I missing something?

think of it like this you have one armor made by a master blacksmith then you give that piece to an apprentice it wont turn out as high quality like chinese toys they make copys of our stuff but it always breaks faster.

There are actually different versions of the main armor types that share the same base id's and spawn randomly. The one with better stats will actually look different visually on your character compared to the one with lesser stats. They just have the same name because of the mods attached to them. The same thing happened with my heavy combat armor and regular combat armor when I placed the same mods on them.

There is Standard, Sturdy, and Heavy versions of all armor pieces in the game. If you take out the Strengthed/Enameld Mods one should say its Sturdy or Heavy. For some reason the game drops the "Sturdy" and "Heavy" part of the name once its been moded.

If they were identical, the inventory would show '.....metal left arm' (2)

As Shipwreck has said, the name is truncated. The name field is limited to that number of characters. No more can be added if renamed.

First explain why you're buying armor off of that criminal. :D

Criminal? Why is there a quest involving the guy?

Yeah, there are more protective versions of armour for the various materials.

The game is really bad with letting you know which version you have without already having two so you can note the minor statistical differences.

Well ♥♥♥♥ my ass and call me a ♥♥♥♥♥, that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Thank you for explaining it.

After seeing things like this, the FPS drops and terrible console user interface I am deciding to take a break from the game until the modders can save us all and fix the awful mess. I would rather experience the content for the first time while it is in an acceptable state. Not ♥♥♥♥ like this.
