I think just like inteligence and hacking the higher your SPECIAL points the easier it is. With hacking the higher your inteligence the easier it is for the player to hack a terminal. I suspect the higher your perception the bigger the sweet spot is when lock picking.
If you do not want to spend points leveling a certain skills you can use certain companions. Cait for lock picking for example.
A high inteligence makes hacking terminals easier is what I was saying. Try it out. Make a character with high intel and one with just enough intel to get the hacking perk. With a high intel it makes it easier for the PLAYER to hack terminals.
I also said I SUSPECT a higher perception makes lock picking easier by increasing the sweet spot. I have not tested this out yet but it seems my characters with higher perception makes it easier to pick locks.
Not sure why I put agility for lockpicking. My post was edited accordingly.
I don't think higher intel or percip makes it easier, but not 100% sure about that. Maybe it feels easier casue you did it so much already :D
I know for hacking higher intel makes it easier. The lower your inteligence the list of possible passwords increases. You can try this out by using items and meds that boost intel. Open a terminal using the items and without using the items.
If they do it with hacking why not with lockpicking?
