Sound Effect Reverb when using 5.1 surround sound over optical
Wondering if anyone has had this same issue. Certain sound effects have excessive reverb/echo. Specifically: gunshots fired by me, things said by my character in first person, and radio music. It's like the game can't decide how to distribute the sound over the various speakers and plays the same sound twice with a slight delay.

I'm using a Sharkoon Xtatic Pro headset via SPDIF from an HT Omega Claron sound card via Dolby Digital Live. No other games have this problem. In addition, positional sound with the 5.1 enabled seems to work fine, it's just the reverb with certain sound effects.

Other specs:

Windows 7
GPU: GTX 980
CPU: i7 950
8 GB of RAM

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have the same kind of problem here, with awful electric like reverberation sound when outside.
I think it's supposed to be the wind an the water...

I use theold tritton ax pro 5.1 with an Asus Xonar DX, over optical Dolby Digital.

Never found a good answer to this, but yeah it's just like you describe. Hmmm.

Set your your speakers to Stereo (not 5.1 surround). and if you have a seperate application for your audo (Sonic Suite 2 for me) turn your Reverb off .

cop3252,

True, I did find some time ago that setting my audio output to PCM Stereo fixes it, but then I don't have surround sound. Unfortunately I'm using SPDIF, so no PCM 5.1 sadly. I'm guessing that would solve this handily.

I'm using Dolby Digital live in this case, which probably has a lot to do with it. Some games sound perfect, but many have the "echo" as well.

Thanks!
