Father is NOT the real shaun! !!! SPOILERS !!!
hey guys, i came across something more mindblowing then the initial "my son is 70 years old now" thing. when youre in kelloggs memories, in the last scene where he and shaun are sitting in his shack, waiting for the instituteagent to pick him up and bring him into the institute, there is the radio playing in the background. it was playing too in one of the other scenes when you saw kellogg and his mom. then the DJ spoke of the new californian republic.but now as kellog sits there with shaun. you can hear the normal diamond city DJ talking about piper... and the mayor told you kellogg lived with a little boy in the city not long ago wich in combination means that this scene with the 10 year old shaun cant be happened 60 years ago. so... think about it. why would kellogg babysit the 10 year old synth shaun? no this scene must have been the real one. that 10 year old shaun must be the real one. and yes you get a ton of info about kellogg in the institute, that kellogg was preserved to become older than normal... i dont belive that. IT COULD BE, that the radio DJ talking about piper is a bug. and i cant tell where the real shaun now is. the 10 year old shaun that you get to see in the institute IS a synth. and if you destroy the institute you get that synth shaun as some sort of companion.

Back in november of 2015, I made it to the endgame about 2 days after early launch and made a save right after meeting him....there were lots of unspeakable tests to be made.

Yes. In fact, did so, teabagged, and then feasted on his corpse. He does not.

Like this topic says. The "Father" character was a synth. Every single word the Institue said was a lie.
For the last time Father is not a synth, all Gen 3 synths, aka the ones that look identical to a human, are have a synth component. FATHER DOES NOT HAVE A SYNTH COMPONENT. Coupled with the fact his age lines up with how old Shaun should be and how his appearance changes based on how you customised the player character, this means he IS the real Shaun, that is what almost everyone has been trying to tell you for the last YEAR. Even go on the several wikis related to Fallout, all say he is Shaun. The institute would NEVER let a synth lead them, they see them as little more than slaves!
Who's to say for certain that any of the institute members are not synths? If you help the institute, you're specifically railroaded into a quest that centers around a rogue synth who believes it's a real human being gang leader and not a synth.

Maybe this was just meant to be an interesting quest, but it could have been a hint of something more, too. It could have been hinting that the entire leadership of the institute has been taken over by replacement synths who believe they're real human beings. And there's no one at a chain of command high enough to bring them back to reality.

I mean, keep in mind that the supposed limitations of synth technology have to be taken at the word of people who could be synths. I think that's supposed to be part of the mind-games style of the narrative. That you, like the rest of the commonwealth, can never quite be sure who is or isn't a synth.

For all we know, the synths surpassed their supposed limitations decades ago, killed their masters, and took over, all while thinking they're real human beings.

There are things in Kelloggs memories that make the idea that Father is not the real Shaun "feasible". One being that Kellogg talks about the "old man" during the diamond city sequence, as if he was talking about the same person in the vault sequence. He also talks about the kid during the confrontation at Fort Hagen and in the Diamond city sequence, as if he didn't know the kid was a Synth. Then you have the two scientists with Kellogg in the vault sequence that sound like Enrico Thompson and Allie Filmore. These are scientists that happen to work in the same division, are avid supporters of Father, and are apparently the only ones Father trusts to conduct surface operations, as both scientists have their own quest directly connected to the main story for the institute.

It all seems to suggest that the SS had actually been asleep for 10 years, and the sixty year bit was a lie. The only problem is that it is heavily suggested in game that Father really is your son, considering his appearance alters based on your character. That makes it look like speculation about it was not intended.
Bethesda recycles voice actors. as well as Old man could be referring to the previous institute director. You know that right? Cause Father isn’t the only institute director

As said above synth components are put on characters meant to be synths, there is absolutely no way that a synth would not have a synth component if they were a synth

Was clearly to observe a none synth. Since they already know how real synths work.

That was not the synth Shaun in Diamond city.

The real Shaun escaped with the help of the Railroad, they then made a synth Shaun and institue leader when they found out they were in hot water."

And your evidence is? We would have been told early in the game by the Railroad leader that he had escaped. We would have probably MET him.

It is synth shaun because Kellog had a kid with him and had a residence in Diamond City shortly before the SS woke up. stated by 2 characters. Both being Nick Valentine and Mayor Mcdunough

Topic correct, hes not the real Shaun. The real Shaun freed the sole survivor while escaping the commonwealth, with the help of the Railroad. Look outside Vault 111, there is a Railroad observation post overlooking the Vault!

When PAM finds out the sole survivor is from Vault 111 she immediately ends the conversation!!!

See it all adds up. :)

Noooo, Deacon states that he’s been watching you since you stepped out of the vault, in fact you can find Deacon in a lot of major settlements spying on you

one thing about those synth with parts you can find on, gen3 are supposed to have a special part but a gen 2 is kind of still stupid... so people are replaced by gen 3 right? hence when you find those 2 guys with the same face fighting each other, why not kill the survivor and loot both bodies to test that theory that they have a special item on? both would have the same cloth and guns but only 1 would have the synth chip thing right? if they both don't have it then "some" synth don't have the chip. if one does then this dumps my theory!

the old man(Father), if he is a synth, but a disposable one, and if he has a message and nothing more, then he don't need a chip to control since all of the mission is already set and finished!

meaning a chip is not obligatory. also nick is fully self aware! we do not know from when this gen 2 is from so if the institute would have "shadow" leaders that would be like nick where they would of uploaded the institute leader's minds in gen2s but were unsatisfied with the product so they are waiting for gen 3 or even deeper, they too are cryo freezed and waiting to be uploaded to a working gen3! father maybe is just a product they can print at any time! this game's tech and shady amount makes you wonder how much they wanted to kill every thing off and repopulate the world with them at the top! so of course them being frozen too makes sense! i am stuck at the choice of following that may or may not be Shaun and did the Gabriel mission, i sneaked around and got the cure for Virgil but just the shadiness in that place makes you think that they don't just lie to you and the outside but even the people inside... (getting close to 1000 char here..)
Radiationbum 2018 年 3 月 10 日 上午 12:55
The Inst want an non-radiation scarred human for their synths.

You think they would then send that 10 year old to live in Diamond city? where he'll be exposed to radition? No.

It was just a test of the child synth or if you think Father/Inst are really smart and layed crums for to you the SS to find then thats stretching it.
EpicSlayer7.666 2018 年 3 月 10 日 上午 1:04
so in reality they might not even have a "real" agenda other than making the gen 3 ready and make more "real" version of nick with the original leaders to then take over the institute and repopulate the upper world! and the people inside are just more reliable than machines that can break and bug and also people that works on the science will eventually find the answers they need! so when they do, they gas the place and take over!

you as the sole survivor was dangerous as an enemy but tricking you into working in the "cause your son had". is the cheapest option! fighting against you will not help and when you got out of there... there is not much reason why you woke up! that theory that little Shaun is the one who woke you up feels not too impossible compared to old Shaun (Father) for revenge or replacement!

case of revenge: Kellogg was a joke compared to synths in a fight and is only one man, just deny implants and he dies... tho having a real flesh henchmen has it's benefits since a lot of robots are idiots... some runs loose...

Case of Replacement: some of the higher ups are maybe idiots but some underlings had good potential and looked more like kids with big innocent dreams of the future... so just skip the unworthy higher ranking and pick some one... how can a guy who learned you are the enemy all the way to there and get's told the opposite be the better choice suddenly?

well i can only think: Kellogg failed and got killed by you, you got there and were not supposed to, they panicked and made something up and even if Shaun is a real dying man or a synth, he is probably not Shaun because you really did catch them red handed, hands in there pants, pants down. or any other hard to explain analog of shame!

finally there are a few missing concrete evidence for if he is or not Shaun... this game needs an update! otherwise not worth playing since all the endings are bad endings. the only true goal of the game is to find Shaun and this makes the game still in "alpha" and incomplete!
EDIT: i mean it is not worth "beating" even tho the game is quite fun!

So, in the 16 pages of this topic has anyone actually come up with a proper argument towards Father/Shaun not having a synth component? Seriously, people like finding deeper conspiracies in video game stories so much they forget to refute the most basic evidence against it.

Also after all this time, I still find it hilarious that OP puts a huge spoiler in his title, but also puts the spoiler tag after it. He shouldn't be putting spoilers in thread titles, before or after the spoiler tag, it's just rude
