Eternal Ash/Goo Piles
Yep.. Thanks a lot Danse..
I left him at a settlement to help protect it, while I did some small stuff (house building).
Team of supermutants showed up, and Danse disintigrated three of the five, before I got outside.

Two days later, i'm playing with a plasma rifle, and gooify some raders who jumped me while at pines bluff settlement.

Now, some fourty hours later, the piles are still there (at this point I've been spending a lot of time at taffington boathouse, and the castle, so my early settlements have been unvisited for well over 15 hours now, until just today when I rebuilt my supply lines).

So, yes, the return and revenge of the ash and goo piles situation- does anyone know if there has been any means to "correct" this legacy-bug yet? A console command to prevent corpse-morph or even some form of weapon-effect adjustment mod? I feel: not right, using the console (as I was constantly doing in F3,NV and rim, the console is tired), and even less inclined to use energy weapons or energy companions (eg Danse, Preston), which alas has such always been a staple in the series.

I have looked for fixes of various sorts, and keep hitting dead ends that just come back around to "using the console", and having to do all of this cleanup manually. So perhaps someone here in the discussions may know something that is just out of my observation, apparently?

Appreciate any feedback.

Same here at Red Rocket, some ash piles are still there since early game. It's been an issue since Fallout 3, even in Skyrim. Until there's update or mod support on it, you'll have to do it manually through the console.
For anyone else curious, just click on it with the console up, and type: disable

It is a known issue in the official forums.....as the forums mods do not comment on anything all i can say is that I hope they are aware it exists and are working to fix it.....

Greetings again fellow Fallout family members.

I don't know if this is actualy a "fix" as much as a debatable prevenative (at best), but if you decide to do an search for Tedinator, relevent to the F4 Nexus, there is a file listed (.esm) which replaces the ash/goo with a corpse burning effect. While this assists in helping prevent piles from occuring in the first place, requiring less console opening and closing in the long haul, it doesn't correct the occassional hanging bodies which still occure from time to time in select settlements which are already vaporized in some shape or form.

Fallout 4 engine is directly made from Skyrim's Creation Engine, and this is one of the bugs carried over.
You'll have to wait for something like the "Unofficial Skyrim Patch" with corpse cleanup scripts etc.

Why couldn't Bethesda include "dispose of body" like in Morrowind?

I have noticed goo and ash piles dissapear after a set amount of time, I gooified the super mutants outside goodneighbour and when I returned the piles were gone. I'm not sure if the game simply disables them or deletes them but I'm convinced they do to some extent dissapear in certain cells. Contrary to what the wiki says about goo piles not cleaning up. The reason why goo piles and ash piles dont despawn from settlement locations is because the cell doesnt reset itself in order to prevent item loss etc.

However the save bloat issue in the past games caused by goo and ash piles mounting up was more of an issue for the console versions of the game..most notably the PS3 version because it lacked sufficent system memory. I wouldnt be supprised if the current consoles start to suffer due to their lack of avaiable memory aswell. The beauty of PC is that almost all your system memory is ready for an application to use provided it is needed and can easily be upgraded and improved. The xbox one only has 5 gb of memory for games...which isnt that good tbh, and thats one of the many reasons why these next gen potato boxes are trashed by the most basic and generic mid range hardware.

I mean, Piles of goo and ash sick around in Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas if I remember.
I do feel they should despawn, because they could be absorbed by the Earth or blown away by the wind.

Pyro, they do indeed disspaear or despawn, I've witnessed it myself, at least in none settlement areas.

would markfordeletion possibly work for removing them?

AFAIK they only properly disappear in zones that respawn, so if you have one in Sanctuary it will be there forever. Just like all the corpses that are already present, like the woman in the bathtub in Taffington Boathouse. If you grab the corpse and throw it into the river, it will be back in its spawn place the next time you get there. That's just immersion breaking.

As i said, you will need a mod that applies some kind of script to these ash piles and corpses so they automatically disappear after a set time (unless there's a quest item inside).
Bethesda will never fix this.
