[FIX] Bring Professor Goodfeels Back & Fully Restore His Hippie Personality!
if you, like me, unkowingly sent the Sunshine Tidings Co Mr. Handy, Professor Goodfeels, to "return for repairs" without realizing that he will remain at the repair facility with NO WAY to get him back to Sunshine Tidings Co, then this is for you!

After consulting The Google and scouring the interwebs for a way/fix/solution to no avail, I began playing around with some of the console commands...

First,
Here's what DOESNT work:

Some of the previous "fixes" I found were less than ideal. Basically, they explain that you can use the console commands to force Professor Goodfeels to respawn to the Sunshine Tidings Co. BUT he will disappear whenever you leave the settlement and will show back up at the repair facility from whence you accidentally banished him. Some of these "fixes" explain that you can summon him back to the settlement and then use the Sunshine Tidings Terminal to reset his protocols. Unfortunately, the terminal will still think Professor Goodfeels is out of range and not allow you to reset his personality.

And finally,
Here's what DOES work!

Essentially what this fix entails, is tracking Professor Goodfeels down at Hesters Consumer Robotics and spawning the Sunshine Tidings Terminal within pinging range of him.

There are 2 IDs that are needed:
> "000D5221" (Professor Goodfeels. Try 000D5224 if the other one doesn't work)
> "000D5228" (Sunshine Tidings Terminal)

There are 4 commands that will be used:
> "player.placeatme XXXXXXXX"
> "markfordelete"
> "prid XXXXXXXX"
> "enable"

Note: the XXXXXXXX is where you will be substituting an object/item ID.

1) Go to the Hesters Consumer Robotics (where he is sent for repairs). Beware NOT to aggro any of the other hostile robots!

2) Enter the following console command to spawn a Sunshine Tidings Terminal:

player.placeatme 000D5228

3) Use the terminal to change his protocols by choosing "Just Be", (choosing the 'Guard' protocol is known to be bugged and causes Professor Goodfeels to be disabled and disappear frequently).

4) You can now delete the spawned Sunshine Tidings Terminal by opening the console and clicking on the Sunshine Tidings Terminal. You should then see it's item/object ID. Now type:

markfordelete

After you change his protocol, he should immediately head out the nearest exit. You should take the safest exit back out to the commonwealth as well. There is NO need to follow Professor Goodfeels, so once again, beware NOT to aggro the other hostile robots. Once outside, he will most likely have disappeared, so don't be alarmed if you suddenly don't see him anywhere nearby.

5) Fast travel back to the Sunshine Trading Co settlement.

6) Find a bed and sleep for at least 12 hours. Note: for some reason, Professor Goodfeels will only show back up at the settlement during the day, so if needed, sleep again for a few hours until around noon.

7) Use the following commands to enable Professor Goodfeels and make him reappear at the settlement:

prid 000D5221

Hit enter, then type:

enable

YAY!!! You should see him appear around the central building in the settlement, spouting off all his loveable hippie jargon like he was before you sent him for repair!!!

This seems like cheating to me is their any other option? What is supposed to happen?

That seems like a lot of work for nothing.

You realize Professor Goodfeels is able to die right?

This current game I walked into a shack while clearing the settlement. Next thign I know some super mutants had wandere dinto the settlement and he was fighting them, then he died.

I would go research how to make him not die like settlers and such.

Yeah this IS quite a process to bring him back. But I didn't know sending him away would be permanent.

As far as this being cheating, I DON'T think it is given the unclear circumstances of sending him away. Sending him away didn't really seem to reveal any significant loot, weapons, armor or otherwise, so bringing him back or interrupting that process didn't feel gamebreaking to me one way or another. He ISN'T supposed to die one way or the other if you send him for repairs, like if you were asking in case this would cause any bugs or glitches or something.

As for him being able to die, YES I realize this. And thats fine. I know he DOESN'T DO ANYTHING. But I like his antics enough to want him around, until he dies, whenever I visit the settlement.

Yea I like him too
Once I changed his personality and he went around saying in his stoner voice "Exterminate"

It was kind of funny

Except even if you don't "send him back," after you clear the settlement and fast travel away he disappears anyway. There's no normal gameplay choice you can make that keeps him there.
Yeah he always disappears before I even have a chance to do anything to him, wtf is up with that.

Yeah I was going to make an edit to explain that. He has been documented to DO this 'normally.' This issue is actually a bug experienced even by players who NEVER send him for repairs. He becomes what's known as "disabled" in the game's script.

But if you perform step 7 whenever that happens, he WILL always reappear.

He does NOT return to the repair facility after you do all the crap to bring him back to the settlement. He just becomes disabled... As much as I want it to, this doesnt fix his known bugs. But I promise you, he's still there when you re-enable him.

Is this a console command or an entry into an *.ini file?
If it is I certainly can't or rather won't use it I don't ever use the console until I have done a minimum of one full play through.

I already tried it the way you described should not work, because he disappears again, which he does unfortunately. So i tried it your way but when i fasttraveled to hester's he wasnt there, do you know why he is not there? I mean i sent him on maintenance the first time i was in sunshine coop. Or is this because i already destroyed the other robots in hester's before i came to sunshine coop?
I just did the last one only and it worked

I tried spawning the Sunshine terminal inside of Hester's Robotics, but the terminal is non-interactable.

this is very old, you don't need any of that, just use standard commands like what Lusqe's example; if you already reset him into a defender killbot and you wanted the stoner, 'recycleactor' first will probably work, try and see.

he does what he wants he's a been reprogrammed by idiots, he'll be there sometimes and he'll pop up beside you inside buildings not even nearby sometimes, that's his thing. heh.

he's also *very* delicate.... so if you want to keep him around, make him essential; Use the baseid not refid, 'setessential d5224 1' but remember you did this when he really starts to drive you crazy and you really want to shoot him. :radiationsymbol:

oh I see! thank you!

Any reason you are not spawning the terminal and/or professor AT Sunshine Tidings ?
Why the hoops and jumps ?
