Sience perk not working
Hello. Just got lvl 1 in the science perk tree in order to build an more powerful generator at The Castle.

It's just not working. I got all the materials but the game still says I require Scince lvl 1 (which I have and have not mixed up with the regular science skill)

Thoughts?

is that bar in the top right completely full if so its because you hit the object cap for a settlement,

kind of confusing question, there is only 1 science perk section
things to check are make sure you have the materials needed either in your inventory or in the workbench, beside the option in the build menu where it shows the requirements the science skill will be greyed out if you do not have the required perk

i have found a problem that if i just have about right amount of resources to build a chair or bed like 8 cloth and 4 steel it will not let me build it even though i got enough material for the object

Try to save the game, exit and relaunch it and see if it will let you craft it then.

That is a bug with an item being in a workshop not breaking down. Hence why people dump all their stuff onto the gruond to dismantle manually.

However once you have supply lines between settlements this can occur again because of scrounged itmes in workshops of other settlements.

I'm hoping someone makes a mod to "auto-scrap" junk placed in the workshop.

Yeah it seems like you need the GECK and/or script source files for this, otherwise this would exist already.

You're kidding right?

You transfer junk into the workshop bench, and it IS auto-junked for you whenever you craft something. Need glue? Stick a roll of ducktape in the workbench and you have glue.

The problem is when you don't have the Local Leader perk, and you want to build several specific objects in another settlement.

First off you have to start writing down the materials list on paper, then scroll through a list of 1000? different junk items in your stash. There's no bar to fast-scroll up and down, so alone scrolling through the list can take 1 minute. Without reading the tooltips, of course.
And you can't mark items for "search" through the build interface in your main settlement, that only works in places where the materials are missing. And all items yield different combinations of materials, so it gets extremely confusing what exactly you are still missing.
Then you maybe forgot to bring 1 additional copper for the wires, or sometimes the auto-scrapping doesn't work properly and you have to fast travel back and forth AGAIN.

This wouldn't be quite so super-annoying if fast traveling across the map wouldn't take almost a full in-game day, while the timers for the next settlement attacks and time-limited quests are ticking.
Only real alternative is getting Strong Back rank 4, but this requires level 30 and something like 6 STR.

I don't know about all of that. In my opinion the junk doesn't have any real problems, though I wouldn't be against them adding options for people who do have issues with it.

All I know is if there is something I need, like glue and screws for example, I make sure that I have them highlighted by picking an item or mod that needs it. Then I just leave it highlighted for the whole game, because there's never a time while playing that you couldn't use more screws or glue. (Obviously this only applies if you aren't making your own glue haha)
