Finding a lost maccready minor spoilers

I found Maccready at the Third Rail and sent him to Sanctuary to wait for me. He never showed up. My thought is he went somewhere else like when Nick goes to the Memory Den instead of being at your settlement.

Is there a typical place to find Macready (other than the Third Rail)? Is there a way to start the Long Road mission so it may show me where Macready is when I assigned by the mission to talk to him? How do you get the cure without Maccready giving you the password? People seem to indicate they got the cure before speaking to Maccready.

Sadly I am on a console. Asking around on both forums since it is an issue console or PC players could help me solve. ,,(beyond command codes). Thanks.

you need macready with you at med tek, he gives you the password when you find the terminal not before
look around goodneighbour is the only place I can think of
