Did anyone realize you can counter melee attacks?
I was goofing around on godmode and I realized something. If you melee bash(With your pistol/weapon) as soon as the enemy starts to melee bash, you counter and flip them over.
I was looking around on the net for this, and apparently NOBODY KNEW THIS.

Try it out yourself, I was using an alien blaster and running up to enemies, counter-meleeing them as soon as they tried to hit me with their gun.

There are multiple different animations for this as well. I knew this. It's quite fun really. Pity I have a 2 STR build character, so may Melee attacks do little damage, but it's a good way to avoid getting melee hit when someone makes it close to you regardless. Shootem up the rump when they're on their face. lol

Turns out if you use the alt melee attack while sneaking behind an enemy it will do a stealth kill animation. I used machete so not sure about other weapons but it seems a lot stronger than normal attacks

This works only against humans, or human likes(synths). Sadly i kill them in one hit. Would be so cool against Death Claws!

Counter-attacks, ground throws (including a suplex move while in sneak mode), a tripping kick, a pushing move, a low kick, finishers like neck breaking, impalement, sword hit on forehead, throat slitting and triple punch...lots of melee moves (that trigger when you use the power attack button instead of the normal attack one, and can be used only against humanoid enemies, not counting super mutants or feral ghouls).

In the case of finishers, they trigger like in V.A.T.S., when enemies have enough health remaining to be killed with one hit. They all happen at random, so you can't choose between them.

Ranged weapons also have their own melee finishers, and each weapon type has its own, which trigger the same way.

That's not entirely true. They also happen, when the enemy is low on health and you double tap the strong attack button. "Low on health" means you can kill them with one attack.

You pretty much repeated what I said with other words...

Like I said, melee finishers trigger like (like, not only) in V.A.T.S. when the enemy has enough health to be killed with one hit. When not in V.A.T.S., finishers are triggered by the power attack button.

What if at level like, 200 you just get the ability to dropkick a Deathclaw into the stratosphere.

Happened with me once. Upon delivering the final blow to a Deathclaw while in V.A.T.S., it just teleported several meters away to fall dead from the sky, lol.

I've figured this out rather quickly honestly.

I also figured out that most wasteland creatures can be stun-locked (FYI: Unable to do anything but get hit due to the animation).

The equvilant of Skyrim's shield bash.

Except doing more damage since you're using a melee weapon instead of a shield. Though certain enemies requires you and a companion to melee them for stun-lock. Me and Nick Valentine stun locked a Deathclaw once. That was entertaining.

I just imagine a white guy in a dress and Nick Valentine knocking a Deathclaw to the ground and kicking it until it started crying and ran home.

What i meant was, that you can force the finishing moves. They are not just random. When you double tap strong attack, you ALWAYS get the finishing move(provided the enemies health is low enough)
