Question on Melee weapons for stealth
Hello guys, i am about to play my 2nd playthrough but this time i go on survival mode and i want to try melee stealth, the beginning was pretty hard i think i died around 15 times already xD
Now my question : what is the best melee stealth weapon ? a small dagger or big sword? does the size even matter for stealth?(maybe in vats the hit ratio?)
i know some unique melee weapons from my first playthrough but i didnt used them since i was on a sniping build ^^

For stealth, well, their is pickman's, but even a fully modded regular combat knife is nice. Some suggest a fully modded super sledge, because the single strike from that, with a multiplier, does a lot of damage, higher chance of a one hit kill.

the best weapon for melee stealth is kremvhs tooth modded onto another legendary machete
you can take the mod off the tooth and put it on another legendary machete its one of the few weapons that can do this
a legendary machete with -40% VATS cost would be the best
Yao gui ribs are bugged and give an insane amount of extra damage for an hour so use these, fury which requires chemist also boosts melee damage by 50%

Yeah, what he said, odds are they'll never get around to patching that bug anyway lol

thanks for fast response :)
i will look forward and i think i am gonna try with a regular modded knife since this makes more sense in a stealth build than a machete xD (i like to play as real as possible^^)
but if it will be to hard i may take ur advise for this combo of weapons :)
i wont use the bugged one since i want a challenge not a easy survival playthrough^^

groovy the combat knife has a stealth mod, so it definately feels more 'real' (and the animations can be pretty good) heh

ye and further more i am thinking about to use the knife from the galery (pickmans knife i think it was called) ^^

prepare to die a lot using just a combat knife
stealth dosen't really get good till the level 23 perk which gives silent running
always carry something that restores some AP such as nuka cola quantuam, cherry or mirelurk egg omlette as VATS is a life saver for damage reduction

It's a cool knife and if you let pickman live, he sometimes shows up to watch you kill with it, which is cool and creepy lol

Oh, just remembered, Blitz REALLY helped me on my build, awesome perk.

Blitz and sandman maxed and it becomes a cakewalk. Also if you get some legendary gear that renders you invisible while crouched you can clear out most places and never be spotted. Also crit banker and grim reapers sprint to keep up ap and crits...

Yeah, the chamelon, combined with blitz lol, you can string together kills in crowded areas without being seen, it's a trip. I've also survived direct suicide bomber hits while in vats/blitz. Not sure if it is just the damage reduction, or if your location when they pop is registered as where you started from blitz, rather than where you finish.

I can't remember if the rooted perk functions when using blitz.

sandman is terrible for melee/unarmed its main bonus is provided to silenced weapons ie guns with suppressors
ninja is the perk you are probably thinking of
rooted perk works perfectly with VATS and is one of the first perks you should take as it gives a sizeable damage increase
