I'm pulling my hair out here. How do you give Sheffield his nuka cola?

I've purchased a bottle from Myrna and walked over to Sheff to talk to him. After he says "I want some nuka cola" nothing happens. I don't get an option to hand it to him like I've seen on Youtube clips. Is this normal? What am I missing here?

Yeah I got one from Myrna's trading post. I even accidentally drank it in front of him, then immediately alt-F4. lol

The dialogue should prompt you when you speak to him, if you have one in your inventory.

I'm confused. If I was able to pop one open and drink it, that means I had one, no? I restarted and I am able again to buy one again from Myrna. I just don't know what to do once I approve the trade and walk over to Sheff. The drink ends up in my inventory when I check my PIPboy. hmm

edit:I'm not using any mods btw.

I did. He just keeps repeating the same lines. I'm going to try something here and see if it works (based on what I saw on a Youtube walk-through).

I'm wondering....is it STANDARD Nuka-Cola that he wants? Since there are a number of flavours, is it perhaps a specific type? Just an idea.

Alright, I got it working. So here was the problem (I'm new to the series), the bottle I bought from Myrna, was not Nuka Cola. It was "Nuka Cola Quantum". So just as an experiment, which got me killed once, I managed to swipe a bottle after sending Codsworth away from me. I walked up to Sheff and the option to hand it to him worked. Didn't realize there was a difference between Quantum and regular Nuka. :P

yep, thats exactly what my problem was. He wanted the standard Nuka. haha.
