But beyond that, because I don't use fast travel I explore places on the way to my destination, and scavenge for any scrap. There's plenty of aluminium cans, trays and cake pans laying around, along with all kinds of other stuff. Also The Institute has absolutely tonnes and tonnes of it.
Right now I have enough aluminium to last a lifetime, so don't really need to buy any more shipments. Cloth seems to be the thing I run out of most commonly, and I regularly have to 'do the circuit' between Diamond City, Abernathy, Greygarden and Lucas Millar if I can find him.
Interesting. I will have to explore that Vault more it seems. I normally only go there for Cait to cure her addiction and then leave. Picking up some aluminium, but not near that much.

There ya go... lots of aluminium... :-)

The Corvega Factory has a lot of Aluminium, which I never realised, until I broke down all the loot.
I break stuff down when I get over-burdened, using a couple of mods...
The Mobile Mechanic mod has an all in one Workbench, for scrapping, and working on Armour, Weapons, Chem Bench and Cooking...
KP Tweaks just makes the Workbench, and it's add-ons lighter, for Survival Mode.

So a complete information link with everything listed in detail is less worthy then a personal answer on something easy to find on your own. Allrighty then.
Makra has 84 fishtrays that give 1 aluminium each while vault 95 has 36 surgical trays that give 3 aluminium each. Can be easily checked with the creation kit.
For sure, makra is a bit faster to make, vault 95 requires more ammo so it´s more efficient on aluminium and ceramic but also more expensive when clearing.
Thanks for the info. I can just melee my way thru it. Except high placed turrets of course. But even that is normally a one shot knock out.
But this is good information for future runs or if i need more in this run.
