Fallout 4 Ostensibly Underwater Secrets?

I have never fully explored the underwater sea world of commonw have? or far harbor?
I did bit not find much, did people find ostensibly hidden secrets items underwater?

Theres always have ostensibly hidden gems items in other games and commonw has
vast things to find, what did people find special? who's for the challenge?

Would alantas be there? Why would the company go for the trouble of building
vast sea and river water for us to swim there? must be something ostensibly hidden?

Could there be crash space ships or special weapons? There is sub.
Can super mutants, ghouls swim? is vast sea rivers same as our world boston?
Would rad animals drown in sea river?

To all outward appearances, (ostensibly), you can tramp around underwater in power armour, picking up treasure, to your hearts content. At least up to the point where the Mirelurks strike and you find out that your weapons don't work underwater.

There are a lot of lore bits under the water, but it's quite difficult to actually find most of them because visibility is crap.

There's one spot somewhere off the coast of Boston that has a sunken ship with a skeleton in it that RATTLES LIKE CRAZY when you swim around. It's probably one of the spookiest things in the game. That and the boat carrying the mannequins. There's a note in there somewhere about how creepy that one is, from the captain or a crew member on that ship.

I took a stroll out to spectical island in power armor once. Found a place with some loot but nothing worth going back for.

There is leveled armor in that lake between covenant and their sewer hide out, on the north end by the vertibird.

There are also the Message in the Bottles that lead to Treasure Chests (the Green Chests I think). I believe they are Vanilla Items. I couldn't tell you EXACT locations of them, but I think there is one near the Far Harbour Start Family down near the shore facing the ?Mackeral? Factory or maybe on the other side of the Factory. Near the Northern Border. I remember one down near Posidon Energy near the Ghoul Ship.

I saw a YT vid a few years ago where someone used either a mod or console commands to make the water clear and then they explored it.

So if you want the hidden underwater secrets, just check YT.

in all likelihood underwater combat/exploration was cut alongside the underwater vault and quest, I don't recall if they just ran out of time or couldn't get the gameplay right

ultimately I'm just speculating, it's also entirely possible the design team was just wanting to have detail, even if it's highly unlikely the player would pay any mind to the ocean floor

side note: I find it funny that the cut cells that were made for this vault were left in fallout 76's data files and it's surprisingly very far along

Of note the 'spare' power armor just outside the map boundary in Far Harbor CAN be reached if you have added a line to your ini that basically turns off the map bordering. but that's sadly the ONLY way you can get it, I don't know whether you can teleport it to you.

(but if you're going to be using teleporting prompts to placeatme you're also likely to be using tcl or godmode and thus won't have trouble walking it out of there, or flying it out lol)

Far Harbour probably has the most reason to go swimming with the Marine armour caches. Otherwise you find the odd chest, etc. If you are looking for a couple of underwater suits of PA the first is in the lake by the crashed vertibird near the scrap heap behind Mystic Pines. The other is a tiny pond near Jamaica Plain near the boy in the fridge location. Look for the APC's

There really isn't much in the water unfortunately, there was a theory floating (pardon the pun) that all the underwater pipes led to a sunken city or underwater base but that's all been debunked. The sub quest was supposed to be bigger with a second location ,and maybe a boss squid, never implemented. Otherwise the message in a bottle quests and some random loot is all that is in the water around the commonwealth, plus a few creepy locales. Far Harbor has the Marine Armor quests, the out of bounds PA set, and more random loot as far as I know. If you still want to explore the water I suggest aqua boy/girl instead of PA, because you won't be limited to walking on the bottom like a snail.
