where do the settlers at saugus ironworks go?
the two guys that are about to get killed, when you release them do they just walk into the sunset and dissapear or do they actually arrive at some specific place? always seemed weird to me how you cant recruit them for your settlement

There's only one dude you can save IN the forge, and he does not become a settler.

There is a random rare encounter you may have found outside, though, who may be sent to a settlement but then defy any commands and just kinda do their own thing as far as I've seen.

It does feel weird that a lot of the people you rescue need mods to be actually enabled as proper settlers. I have one for Jenny the synth you pull out during the hunting the courser mission, and one that takes the inexplicably not a settler at Egret Tours Marina and makes her one.

Missed opportunities for that kind of thing all over the place, sadly.

*edited* unless you mean the Finch farm people? There are a total of four if you rescue the kid who made the poor decision to join the Forged, though I've only ever been able to get him to do guard duty at the farm.

In my session the unnamed "settler" in the blast furnace room never left the room after the quest. It just became a neutral leftover NPC staying around.

He should have run away, did you kill all the enemies that fast that he didn't bother?

Or did you not talk to him after he was rescued? He will thank you, iirc, and then leave.

Some of them aint missed opportunities, but bad scripting.

For example, the raiders vs settlers encounter. If you engage in combat with the raiders then the settlers will join you if the leader survived and you have no population in your settlements. If the leader of the three dies no dialogue, if you have even 1 population the whole dialogue does not happen.

One of my play throughs I had one of them mods that let you push a button and summon spawn settlers. When I rescued them I used to use the button for each I rescued.

I'm fairly sure that the lady at Egret was SUPPOSED to be a proper settler, but she'll just take up seating space if you don't run that mod.

I didn't realize the conditions for those randos, what a mess. :/

nope, you can actually save the settler that is about to beheaded, with some jet and psycho, i managed to save jake, the settler, and the bald one
and by random encounter you mean that girl that you can save from super mutants? yeah i sent her to sanctuary but she never arrived so its pretty glitchy

both ran away, just checked and one of them is roaming around the furnace from now on, guess he lives in saugus ironworks now, hes pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ after the raiders respawn.
the other guy would make sense if he dissapeared since he was not meant to be saved (i think)

That is where I whip out the console and use the add keyword commands and turn them into a normal settler. The same applies for the Warwicks, Nordhagen, Caretaker, and Oversee Barstow.

Literally the only way to even find out was to NOT populate settlements. Given the Museum Monkies are thrown at you ten minutes into a game makes it very easily missed.
I just followed the settler that was Jake's target. He goes to Diamond City by a very circuitous route, but disappears after he enters the city load zone. I didn't save the one Slag kills, so I don't know that one's fate if they survive.
