Can a Dell Latitude E6540 laptop run Fallout 4?
I bought the game on sale, so no real loss but I am uncertain on whenever my Dell Latitude E6540 would handle it. This is my first time using steam forums so please excuse my typing.

Probably not. The cpu appears to be a i5-4310M which has 2 cores each with 2 threads. It's the laptop version of the desktop i3-4130. Gamers Nexus said about the 4130 "An i3 can get you by at some setting levels." The catch is - that is with a good graphics card, which the E6540 laptop doesn't appear to have.

The cpu has Intel HD Graphics 4600 on board.
The motherboard has AMD FirePro W4170M - similar performance to GT 750M.

This video shows the fps with similar hardware. 20-30 fps in the location shown is abysmal. When the player gets to downtown Boston the game would be unplayable imo.

Similarly with the 4600 graphics.

Not very well. That laptop uses integrated graphics and has 8GB of RAM meaning the available RAM is probably 6GB with 2GB dedicated to graphics.

It might play on low settings at like 720p...

Your laptop had issues running vanilla Stardew Valley and you want to try FO4...

Someone else can give a better answer, but to my mostly untrained eye the graphics card alone looks woefully underpowered for a AAA RPG.

Thanks, the stardew valley issues were on a different 4 yr. old laptop, got this one late last year on sale. This one runs Slime Rancher pretty well along with stardew. Eh, no loss since it was on sale and hopefully I can get a real PC soon.

I feel ya. It's the price range. You can't get at least a GTX 1050 until you spend a good $500+

I'd imagine the meaty installation would be something he'd like to avoid if he can help it.

Without the HD Textures it's only about 40GB. That's not too terrible.

Good luck with ARK, though. Last I checked it was 90GB standalone and like 250GB for the whole thing.
