You must be playing with a mod or something because in vanilla, they explode at the first rank.
wt definitely does not play with mods... plenty vocal enough about it lol. You are right though, even Rank 1 of Bloody Mess causes the full body explosion chance. Rank 4 causes chain explosions with other nearby enemies.
The effect is a bit much. Especially when you consider how many thousands of things you will kill before the end of the game.
Nope. No mods, but you are right. It is the top rank which makes other bodies close to the one you shoot to explode. Never have got that rank. But I am really only interested in the 3rd rank, for the extra overall damage.
The fact the bodies have a chance to explode, is not a attraction to me. Which would have been a better way to explain my position.
Ha! Yeah, I never get it past rank one--and the rare times when I even get that, I tend to get rid of it. Up until now it would mostly be by starting over or loading a save; now I can do it directly. So I never actually saw the chain explosions happen. If I want to blow up everybody in an area, there's always the fat man. Or, since I DO have a ton of mods, a fusion core missile.
Well, the 15% damage increase across the board for the char is nice. Only interest I have in it. And I do not regret getting it as I do on every run I do.
Playing mostly on Very Hard, which your char is gimped anyway by doing 50% less damage, is a good incentive to get it for myself.
This is what I discovered:
From the console command line enter: player.setav 2ed 0
This turns off the bloody mess effect.
Then you remove each perk in the reverse order they are added as follows:
player.removeperk 001F418E
player.removeperk 001D2454
player.removeperk 001D2453
player.removeperk 0004A0BB
Hope this helps. Now I have a batch file or two to fix. :O
