Oh, man! Now you went through a big firefight just to cost yourself one merchant that is sorely needed in the early game! I never kill them, you can always find the mats for a couple doses of Grape Mentats before you get down there.
One dose to save Mama Murphy, one dose to settle the Diner Dispute peacefully :)
Yeah, I'm annoyed at myself with that one.
By the time I saved the game again I just could not face going back to resolve that one differently. Not knowing that it could be at that time.
I now realise that I could have offered help with Wolfgang to talk to Trudy and all would have survived....
Feel a bit meh about the outcome.
Make Water, and better: Poisoned Caltrops (if you can) or Caltrops, have your companion force carry them to all the good merchants, and you will never have money issues and you can buy out all the cool items the merchants have in store.

As Caltrops are not yet available for me I'm focusing on water and Jet at this point.
I'm surprised at how much time can be taken in settlement builds, if you wish it to.
Almost as tho the other aspects of the game are serving those needs, lol.
Every merchant who you can sell $250 worth of loot to every couple days as a newbie is equally valuable as any other. Having three merchants in one place close to Sanctuary ... when Carla shows up too ... is extremely useful in the early game for building up cash.
Certainly worth three mouse-clicks rather than a big gunfight lol!
I'm about to follow her out of Sanct and blowing her head off. I'm fed up with this miserable cow taking up space in my settlement, and her disgusting Brahmin hanging around in my private room on the second floor.
Click on the brahmin.
Type Disable.

Well, found a mod that resurrects and protects brehmin, Trascan Carla has hers called Delilah..!
Once they were brought back to life she has then recommenced her travels...

the brehmin are now marked as protected.
It applies to synth versions as well.
