What is the vault tec lab coat based on? I know its a lab coat but what kind and from what era?

They are just lab coats. There's about a billion different real world lab coats to choose from if you're looking at making a costume.

There arent though. Almost none of the lab coats I look at are knee length. And none have 2 chest pockets. They only have one chest pocket.

Well since I don't know where you're looking, nor for what purpose you're looking, I don't know whether you can find what you're looking for.

You can always... look for medical supply stores that have something similar enough, and add pockets as needed. Pockets on lab coats aren't that hard.

I was just wondering what era lab coat it was based on as it seems to be a nice quality not super thin. And had 4 pockets while all lab coats I have looked at only have 3. Maybe im bad at searching online. But even when i put 4 pocket/ 2 breast pocket lab coats none show up.

Their universe isn't ours, so. It's not based on any of our things? Maybe they needed more pockets. (they probably did need more pockets, because they didn't have miniaturization for their electronics, and cellphones aren't a thing there...)

Maybe you need to look for mechanic's gear or engineering lab equipment rather than medical.

Fairly, who would have assumed or even realized that the homes in Sanctuary are such a real thing? plus if it is for a cosplay reason, finding the 'real thing' is way way more preferable to having to alter something else.

As the game is retro futuristic (50s/60s point of view how things in the future might look like) they are just something a 3d artist might have come in mind or found on/in an old poster/book imagening the future.

ARE you gonna do a vault tec costume? Halloween's coming up (okay okay unless people do costuming there's zero reason to think about it 'this far in advance' but it's 3 months away panic mode is full on) and with the show's popularity people would certainly recognize the stuff :D

last year I did a skibidi camera head outfit that a surprising number of very young kids recognized (and I had to explain it to their folks lol) (i am in my 50s so you know, I'm not a parent lol) but this year I think I'm going to do a copout pipboy and have a shirt with "I raided Vault # and all I got was this broken pipboy" on it :D
