Fallout TV Show VERY good
After finding I could easily cancel after the free trial month I decided to join Amazon Prime.

I had no high expectations. The first episode was fine. It held my interest from start to finish. The style was about right with a mix of humor, drama, and serious violence. Yes, tiny weak spots one could nitpick but it takes a lot to hold my attention. The scenes were mostly fast-moving (one exception dragged a bit.) Video quality is moderate. Yes, it's 4K but not pin-sharp, high-quality 4K. Sound for me like many movies is spoilt because of the extreme dynamic range. Turn up the volume for speech, turn it down for noise (but not as bad as some in that respect.)

I enjoyed it. To anyone who's never played FO4, this series will look quite original and in a very unusual style.

If you're a hardcore FO4 obsessive then maybe don't watch it if you're just trying to match it to some preconceived notion of what you think it should be. For me, I accept it for what it is and I'm starting straight away on Episode 2!

Only watched the first episode so far. But I liked it. They nailed the Fallout Theme really well.

I love playing Fallout 4, but did not watch the TV series with a judgmental attitude, comparing it that closely to the game. Not seen anything that was a turn off. So far. My wife has never played the game and has no interest in it, but she liked the episode we watched.

I liked when the Fallout girl met the Broda of the Hood of Steel and decided to Fallout in front of everyone. Then when the super mutant attacked Fallout girl said "Its Fallout Time" and had a Fallout all over him while the ink spots played in the background.

I was like wow and fall out of amazon prime and cancelled my subscription.

I'm sure the masses will be in your court.....I am not enjoying the show...I have no emotional investment in any character..maybe the dog......the show went too fast and overloaded the viewers with too much plot....they did not take their time and develop the story or a backdrop like in FO3......next thing you know you have an aspirant who has the Storm Trooper janitor vibe....an uninteresting Vault Girl who want to know sperm counts and a ghoul who I find undeveloped and not interesting....If this show had developed slowly I could overlook things like the cars looking wrong and being gas powered.......trucks that look modern and such...the ambiance was terrible.

Sincerely. I didn't enou Fallout 4 too much and I don't understand anyone who loves this game. I just accept that there are people who love it and understand everything about the lore that's okay. Fallout 3 I thought was a good game. I like the theme, the retro futuristic vibe and the collapsing society and the humor. And the series delivered this as well as the game with the added bonus of having a story... So I'm more satisfied with a Fallout series than I was with Fallout 3 or 4. I haven't played the others.

I've been very little disappointed so far. I didn't like the main actress, it seemed very forced to me that she was always smiling and being silly. I understand the idea, but I think they exaggerated a little. After all, they're going to have to change her attitude and increase her IQ by about 20 points for there to be any possibility of continuing the series... Another factor was the crude CGI and some rather silly and unnecessary fight scenes. E.g:. Maximus' fight. The cuts to moments of murder and brutality irritate me. But that's a cliché of this type of production... Other than that, all the other clichés... But overall it's a very fun and well-produced series. But you will enjoy it a lot if you know the Fallout universe but you are not a fanatic who will point out every mistake in the lore.

only watched the first one, okey dokey, and part of the 2nd, the graphics take a bit to get used to, but they captured the stupidity of the game world perfectly. you just take it in stride, yep that's what's happening. the perfect balance of campy, bloody, and just flat-out groaner dumb... it's truly a video game in video format.

people wanting an epic 60-hour LOTR director's cut edition of their version of the Fallout universe are going to be sorely disappointed... but you can't please those types anyway, they're contrarians. :radiationsymbol:

I only watched the first episode tonight.

It wasn’t bad but I wasn’t wowed by it.

I’m not sure I agree with the various choices that were made in regards to how the episode was shot and edited.

The entire attack sequence in the Vault being played out in slow motion for something like 10 - 15 mins felt unnecessary. Slow mo can be really cool and a great effect when it’s used to emphasize a dramatic moment or highlight a particularly entertaining or impressive stunt or “kill”, but just shooting an entire lengthy sequence in slow motion wasn’t a good choice.

I too found the sound sorta weird. Very loud music and effects but soft dialogue, and there were a couple times when it seemed like there should’ve been various miscellaneous sound effects that just weren’t present (or were so soft I couldn’t hear them).

The end sequence with the ghoul was also WAY too dark. I had to turn my lights off in my living room just to be kinda able to see what was going on.

Beyond that, I think Lucy captures the whole “innocent/ignorant Vault girl” vibe pretty well and I’m interested to see how awkward and unusual she can be later on.

Maximus…did not make a good first impression.

You look at the guy and he gives off this Finn (Star Wars VII - IX) and Kang (Marvel) vibe but he lacks the charm, emotional sincerity, or intensity that those actors brought to their respective characters. He’s very…flat and wooden, and the sequence of events that occur in that first episode did nothing to make me either like the guy, sympathize with him, or want to know more about him or care about what happens to him.

I’m interested enough to keep watching it but I’m thus far not impressed with it.

I'm warming to the main actress. The reason for her silliness is the extremely limited and superficial environment she was raised in. The more she suffers, the more I sympathise and want her to succeed. Same with Maximus; so wishy-washy and slow at first, but he's toughening up.

There are plenty of unexpected shocks; the two main quests are intertwined nicely, and back in the vault is becoming intriguing too. My God yeah!

The scene where she is waving the gun around while greeting that dude was such a great poke at the game logic:steamthumbsup:

Technically The Ghoul and Lucy won, the idiot BoS boy let the villain out of the cage. Then they all left.

Just watched the second episode.

MUCH better than the first one in almost all respects. Makes me wonder if they shot the first episode as a pilot or if there was some abnormal length of time between when they shot that one and the rest.

I got a kick outta the nods to the game in this one: the automated turret that can’t hit ♥♥♥♥, Lucy trying to nicely talk to the wastelander while having her gun out and at the ready, Maximus having the same kinda childlike reaction we all do when first trying out the PA, the knight wanting to land, wander off, and go shoot stuff because he was bored on the way to their objective marker, the janky controls of the PA jetpack, Ma June grabbing Lucy’s Pip Boy to enter in the coordinates for her “quest”

Also got a laugh outta Titus’ comment about embarking on dangerous missions to recover coveted pre-war technology…like toaster ovens lol

The first two are excellent, those who criticize have never played.
Turret, brahmin, T-60, Brotherhood camp, vertibird, Yao guai. 👍
