THIS OPERATION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED: again
THIS OPERATION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED
Any time I try to open the "mods" menu item. This started with the latest update.

I'm on a PC not anything else.
Internet is fine.
Firewall is not blocking.
Account works elsewhere. I can't re-enter my login credentials though that should not matter as the creators login works etc.
Not using VPN.
No outage is shown on twitter etc.
I've been through numerous reboots of machine and network equipment though its obvious its not that.
I see no cache option to remove.

Anyone know how to fix this, as it appears, bethseda fubar?

Deleting the mods folder in your game directory has worked for some users. Personally, I encountered the error afterwards as well, both with CC and the ingame mods menu, so be warned it might not be going away. You may also try, after deleting that mods folder, the next time you go into the ingame mod menu, disabling/deleting any mods in your load order that don't have a thumbnail image or you otherwise suspect are no longer in Beth's mod database. Good luck.

The error is on the path between your device and the Bethesda servers. At the moment it's most likely the Bethesda servers because they have been insanely busy since 25 April.

I cant even get this page to fully load.

just tried the link. works on my machine. perhaps that is also an indication of your game problem. you have network issues.

Just checked the link also, and it works fine.
Perhaps contact your ISP and see if they put a region block on those IP addresses.

This is for console. The post is about PC. I’m still trying to find a fix for the PC version because I want to remove the mods I had installed before the update but can’t access it because of bethesdas stupid required update.

true. my mistake. but the help article describes network fixes which should apply to either console or pc. should check your firewall log at least. also check antivirus log. maybe some other app/program does the download/install and is blocked.

I have win 11. the update worked and the game still works after the recent win 11 updates and nvidia drive update

Delete all manifest files in \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Mods\

Disabling my IPv6 through the control panel fixed this issue for me (PC).

Have had this issue with no mods. And I do not even reach the login/password stage, it just knocks me out to 'The operation could not be completed' after a couple of seconds of 'Logging in'. This is both for Mods and CC.

on windows 11 desktop
started game using ethernet and connected to mods and cc instantly.
shutdown ethernet and started wifi.
started game using wifi and connected to mods and cc instantly.

community hub says over 47000 in game (but do not know how many using mods/cc but just guessing more than just me)

issue still appears to be some kind of local network connection problem on your unknown hardware/unknown OS. perhaps if you state windows 7 8 10 11 linux steam deck ethernet wifi hardware isp vpn perhaps someone with similar setup can suggest something.

That is VERY interesting.

Maybe Bethesda recompiled the client with an IPv6 stack. That's famous for totally borking Minecraft networking.

Bethesda Support have been blaming the user for this error message since 2015.

Not this time. It's something to do with Next Gen update.
