some items don't have wire connection points but rely on proximity. the way to connect them is to place a conduit on a wall/ceiling near wireless objects and connect the conduit to the power grid.

Thanks. I'm new at this but loving the many different ways to enjoy spending time with FO4 killing time when resting between killing bad beasts & people hee hee. :-) I've recently learned how to get single light bulbs to work connected to ceilings that don't actually need wires to everything as i had been trying lol. By using switchable power tower wired from gen then wired to wee conduit on ceiling or wall or roof. Just saw someone's YT vid showing sometimes needing conduit on each side for power stuff between them. tried but xmas lights still won't attach. Is their staying red because they not selecting powered ceiling ? There's enough power to spare with large 10 gen. . But when i try to connect the Vanilla Xmas lights to ceiling anywhere or even edge of roof, (this is Sanctuary home base garage area), they never turn green to allow attaching. The bulbs hanging there are not wired. Ceiling i got powered.

Am about to try just got DLC Christmas lights mod from Bethesda acct login...

Got the extra string light choices with that Christmas Lights MOD above but none attach anywhere still.

Are you talking the one that required power pylon? Some light dont required direct power line, you need those pylons instead, it will create a bubble where it on everything in close proximity.

Thanks. I donno if these xmas lights that are in original FO4 build list light up or not but seeing them in other pics of others seems they should. Upgrading at this moment to FO4 Game of the Year Version. Maybe that will help.

There are Halloween string lights from the CC that I had to stick on "walls" (vertical surfaces). It makes more sense to me to have them hang from ceilings (down-facing surfaces), but the closest I could get was that little overhang at the edges of rooftops and doorframes to make the lights hang down.

Again, this was with the free Halloween CC that came pre-installed with the NG update. I don't know if the Christmas lights work the same way.

I was able to get some of those Halloween lights on that big dead tree in the cul-de-sac at Sanctuary, but they stick out weird because they're on the side of the tree and not under branches.

I've read about mods that lets player put things attached to more surfaces of different orientations, but I don't know what they are as the only "mod" I've used is that DX-interceptor (the non-F4SE version that's extremely unobtrusive that the game still functions vanilla but with quick load times on SSD).

The Christmas lights from the Holiday Workshop Pack Creation don't hang from ceilings. They go on walls. I haven't reinstalled the game, but I would bet the Halloween lights are just reskinned Christmas lights, so have the same placement limitations.
